Was pre-DMC3 Dante even strong? 57% on Tails is bad by today's standards. It's weird. DMC has been my favorite series since it came out and DMC2's model is really cool and similar to the other Dantes. It was a bad game, but people should recognize him as the guy from the other games as well. The DMC games aren't even popular on this site. It didn't get nominated in either BGE contest and got killed in the series contest. Ugh, we'll see.

Analysis

Looks like the father showed the son how it is done. In terms of strength this was a weak four-pack and has a great argument on being the weakest four-pack in this contest. Still seeing a board rallied character doing well in this contest is awesome to see and even though he may not be the strongest character he has a great chance at making the contest next year because of his exposure in this contest.

Ratchet doubling any kind of character is a site to see, but I guess a doubling is possible for any character; you just have to find a weak enough opponent. While it is possible that Ratchet has gone up in strength given his new game and the marketing it got after release the guy is so weak that it probably wouldn’t matter in this match. Ratchet is considered to be one of the weakest characters to constantly make the bracket while through Phoenix Wright Jecht is at least above the fodder line.

Like Sub-Zero in the previous match Jecht should have an easier time winning this match than he did in round 1. Usually that is unusual, but so far this round we have seen that happen five times and more are bound to happen. The biggest debate in this match should be whether or not Jecht should return next contest potentially bumping another Final Fantasy X character. Personally I’m fine with missing Rikku or Yuna, especially if they keep getting unwinnable matches.

Looking at Dante's contest history, he has done just fine using a body DMC2 pic. He had it in round 1 of 07 and when he killed Ratchet in 04. Would a face picture be that different?

I think a lot of people expect Jecht to break 60% here - I don't think he will. Seems to me that Ratchet is as horrible as he used to be. I think Ratchet could do well here. Although I'd love to see "Rambo" smash him good. (man he does look like Rambo...)

If Jecht disappoints here, I'd attribute it more to Ratchet boost than Jecht suckiness.

Yeah, if Jecht fails to break 60%, it just means Ratchet isn't horrible anymore. I still think Jecht should get 60%+ here though. I don't think Ratchet has improved that much, as much as I'd love for it to be so.

I seriously think those PS3 commercials might have helped him significantly, not even joking.

That sounds nuts but the guy was *horribly* weak in the past. I mean just awful. It really doesn't take much to improve in strength when you're that bad to begin with, and I think the commercials might be enough. They were pretty funny and quite memorable.
