Huh. Well I would have done the opposite as a Link fan had I been distraught over his loss (I was happy about having a new champion)- voted for Cloud so there was only 1 character better than Link instead of 2.

I don't think most people think that way though.

Yeah, but why not then when he seems to have done so in every match they've had since?

It's not like the SFF has been consistent. Cloud's percentage against Seph has varied wildly from 56% to a doubling since then.

Wait guys, serious question. How much will a face pic kill Missingno.
Voting Missingno., by the way.

Considering that despite all the sff in the vote-ins he still won easily, and that he didn't even have a picture there...Not much.

Missingno is the kind of joke that a picture doesn't help much. If you know what missingno is, a pic isn't going to make much difference. If you don't know what missingno is, a pic is not going to help either. Maybe a little, but not a lot.

I've been extremely skeptical of Charizard's ability to take on real competition as the contest has gone on, so today will be his proving ground for me. He's got a pretty good pic and all the momentum in the world, plus both characters are operating at their best times. This is his 'Hayabusa-moment', to borrow from a few days ago.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I filled out my bracket I didn't register who Missingno. was. When I saw the pic for the match I remembered completely and almost voted for it, even the Crono is by far my favorite character ever. But maybe I'm just weird.

How was Cloud/Sephiroth revenge voting?

This idea of revenge voting might be important in the Yoshi/Missingno match. While I think Missingno's chances of losing to Yoshi are low, it might happen if Crono fans come out full force and vote for Yoshi instead.

Cloud and Seph's SFF has varied wildly, by the way, because the circumstances have varied wildly. The Royale yielded the least SFF in a multi-way format due to Seph vs Snake (though still much more than would be otherwise because of the Link vs Cloud dynamic present). 2007 was more Link vs Cloud, with a meaningless match with Samus for 3rd and he got left behind accordingly. 2008 was Cloud having to muster up everything in his power to not lost to Snake, and we saw Sephiroth become something not unlike a finely ground powder in that circumstance.

But Cloud v Seph 1v1 again? I'm not convinced that's much different from 2004 (probably a bit bigger for Cloud because Seph has virtually no bracket support against him these days).

Sephiroth only putting up like 67.7% on Auron that year despite Cloud getting over 72% the prior year kind of implies that Sephiroth may not have been as hot that year anyway. In fact, using a constant Auron predicts like a 56-57% victory for Cloud over Sephiroth which is pretty much what happened

Or Sephiroth just isn't as potent with SFF as Cloud is. I wouldn't judge Cloud and Sephy off of SFF matches, which is basically all they had that year.

Yeah, but as someone that picked Sephiroth to win the whole thing, you could sort of tell that he was a step or three behind Cloud. Cloud smash-hammered Squall while Sephiroth only "defeated" Auron.

And as we're going to find out, Squall is a few steps ahead of Auron!

Chart from yesterday's match:

Time | Kefka | Bowser | Votes
0:05 | 41.81% | 58.19% | 940
1:00 | 41.00% | 59.00% | 9042
2:00 | 40.92% | 59.08% | 7341
3:00 | 39.36% | 60.64% | 7178
4:00 | 37.47% | 62.53% | 7550
5:00 | 35.86% | 64.14% | 7465
6:00 | 36.98% | 63.02% | 7129
7:00 | 36.37% | 63.63% | 6915
8:00 | 37.75% | 62.25% | 6124
9:00 | 37.74% | 62.26% | 5434
10:00 | 38.24% | 61.76% | 4867
11:00 | 38.58% | 61.42% | 4458
12:00 | 39.07% | 60.93% | 3650

Kefka does well the first three hours and the last three hours, and he gets killed in between. No surprises here. Bowser only had two hours on Kefka that exceeded his final percentage on Frog.

OKAY since we're bringing up Insta-kill moves I have to re-tell the story of the first time I beat Pokemon Blue. I'll do it sort of summarized.

Well I was a dumb 5th grader and when I read Fissure's description after beating Giovanni, I immediately taught it to Blastoise because he was my starter and strongest Pokemon.

I went and tried it out and it of course failed every time and I was thoroughly upset.

Well I went through the Elite 4 and was struggling to win because I still was pretty noob at competitive Pokemon, and my team consisted of like, Blastoise, Pidgeot, the 3 legendary birds, and some other underleveled thing.

Well I'm facing Gary for like the 10th time that day, and it comes down to his Venusaur vs my Blastoise. I've got him beat, dead to rights... but I've run out of PP for all my other moves. He's got a Solarbeam charged up. I'm going to lose AGAIN. I let my head sink. I've got no other options. I click Fissure, resigned to my defeat.

"IT'S A ONE-HIT KO!"

Still the most epic thing that has ever happened to me in pretty much any game, ever. I was a mix of stunned/excited that I can't really describe.
