~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Solid Snake, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Tifa, Vincent, Zelda, Kirby, etc group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters in the past.

The Fodder Line - A final X-Stat value of 15% or below.

Being honest is not being negative by any stretch. Lumpy is no competition for anyone in the real world. That's a fact, not some myopic world view. Plus he knows he can't post anything remarkably borderline without getting suspended, so if anything I'm having more fun than usual at his expense =p

Fiction - two words: Assist Trophy. Not really, but I'd probably take him to beat HK-47.
Fiction - it's not impossible, but I need to see it to believe it.

Logically, I'd favor Bowser if he faces Charizard...but instinctively, Charizard has a serious shot if it gets to that point.

That said...I think everyone should cut Albion some slack.

I cut him a LOT of slack. I know full if he's being serious or not. And Sonic/Samus is just too dirty to put high up. The whole 2 hour delay thing, plus Samus clearly cheating and not getting caught rubs me the wrong way. I remember that match very clearly, and Samus cut 1500 votes to tie in two hours, followed by an hour-long tie to end the poll. That's impossible to do legit.

I'm a bit excited for tonight because The Boss just proved that jokes can be transitive, and it's the first fair match Isaac has ever had. Well, so was Layton, but it was hard to get a read off of him from Layton.

I know. But that's why it should be higher. The first real confirmed case of cheating on the site that the administrators refused to deal with.

I mean, it's the same situation as the MssingNo match against Crono. Everyone knows that MissingNo cheated whether or not SBallin' confirms it (or says the opposite).

But Sonic vs. Samus was a very big cheatfest and cheated Sonic out of only shot ever at reaching the final. (I'm convinced he would have beaten Sephiroth.)

The current security measures are almost impossible to break, so I'm 99% sure Missingno won legit. But on the subject of 2002, Sonic would not have beaten Link that year. Sephiroth maybe, but Link is just way out of his league.

Missingno was suspicious, but if he won and SB confirmed it was legit, who are we to continue doubting it? Really guys, especially since the match was hyped, Missingno killed in the vote-ins despite two other Pokemon and Toad in the poll, and somebody pointed out Missingno had a lot of Twitter-support (I bet he's had the most support from Twitter of any character thus far, honestly, though who knows if that means much).

Oh I know that he would have lost to Link in the finals -- but he would have made it there. I'm sure of it. He might even have won by being the iconic figure in the finals. But you never know now because he got cheated out of his place.

With every advance in defence there is another advance in offence. The reality is that security will always be one step behind, because you can't create security against a threat you don't know about yet. Chances are there are ways of stuffing that SBallin' or whoever created the security for the site hasn't encountered yet. I know my fair share of pokemon players and a lot of the ones online are very skilled with hacking and computer science.

You're going to tell me that people rallied 20,000+ votes? I doubt it very much.

I don't know why people expect the ASV to be a large factor anymore. In a normal 24 hour match over half the votes are cast during the first 12 hours. Comparing the night/day vote totals about 33% of the votes for day matches are coming from people that usually vote in the night in 24 hour matches.
