Fact: I picked up Disgaea DS only because I read about laharl on the back cover, and I recognized his name from the Gamefaqs character tournaments! He is now one of my top 5 favourite characters as well.

Actually, Fails characters blowing consistent chunks is a fad spread by their consistently blowing chunks. Not my fault the series hasn't had a single worthwhile entrant in the character battles. When your #3 guy from the most popular game in the series is losing to Tom Nook, you know you are a worthless series.

Back during Vyse/Laharl, I knew neither character. Since then I've acquired Skies of Arcadia Legends and Disgaea DS and I love both of them and wish they were stronger.

So Laharl won a match, Prinny did very well against Ike (who went on to beat Zidane proving he himself wasn't a total dud) and now Laharl is losing respec

Kefka is going to get blown out most likely -- even assuming that Arthas has legit strength from 2007 (unlikely due to the 4 way format allowing for characters with a more hardcore fanbase to look better), and taking Bowser's rating from last year, Kefka still falls just a little short on Bowser. Now those stats would make Kefka look really good, but there's no way that Kefka has gained that much in a year. It's likely that Arthas just overperformed because of the format I would think.

Okay, I prefer Bowser between the two for sheer iconic factor, but as I said I am voting for Kefka because I didn't vote for him last round and I want to make up. The only other character I am voting for despite him not being my favorite to advance is Gordon Freeman, just to joke around.

Analysis

I’m sure that I’m not the only person surprised that Kefka not only won, but was able to break 60% on Arthas. A lot is still unknown about that match, sure it seems that Old Final Fantasy characters have gained a boost, but turning around a loss of below 45% to a win of over 60% is a lot considering it was only a PSP game. Bowser on the other hand performed as expected against Frog which helped stop the belief that Mario characters were on the downward trend.

Had Kefka been put in a different spot I think a lot more people would be hyping this match. Even if we assume Arthas was constant and this was all Kefka boosting Bowser would still win in a close, but comfortable matter. Trying to pinpoint Kefka’s boost is pretty hard though Darth Revan is new and Knuckles hasn’t had a proper reading in years. Arthas dropping so much is a bit weird, especially when Thrall put a decent performance on Link. Maybe Warcraft characters have some kind of cap.

Before this year I would expect Bowser to defeat Kefka by a bit more than what he did against Frog. That is about a 15% range for Kefka. I feel that Kefka will put up a decent performance against Bowser though if he approaches a doubling in this match I don’t think I will be the only one laughing at Arthas’ new found fodder.

Well, this sucks for my whole Sora-wins-the-division thing I was going for. Still, let's see what Bowser, L-Block, and Charizard do before we call for his head. This guy did go even with Squall three out of four matches, and yo brought up how he's pretty clutch too.

That performance didn't look too hot, either. Once again, Bowser was always a threat (it's not like anyone expected a 60/40), but for now, I'll trust Sora's proven ability to come through when it counts. I still can't believe he's one of our most clutch guys, but you can't argue history.
