People
don't seem to understand how the hierarchy works. Just because your
series is higher on the hierarchy does not make you stronger. See Auron

said it best -- Hayabusa, as it stands now, is just the more popular
character. There were signs there from previous contests, there was
round 1 this year, and we're seeing it today. Master Chief isn't a weak
character, this isn't some huge chokejob, it's just Hayabusa having
some solid popularity behind him. And in the future, Master Chief will
win matches he should and potentially lose ones that are debated. Shock

I'd say Cloud and Sephiroth get antivoted more than Master Chief.
people just don't like Master Chief as much here as other places. when Halo was massive in 2007, Master Chief was a top 10 character. when Halo falls off like it has in recent years (and we have LOADS of evidence to support this), Master Chief falls too. he functions like every other character. --- xyzzy |

Theres a reason he is so easy to rally against in that Gamespot match and the Spy match. Yep.
Next year, after Halo Reach comes out, Chief will probably be put into
another debated match and everyone will not pick him because of today

not arguing for rallying. I'm arguing for people seeing Chief and
voting for the "Not Chief" option. Theres a reason Felix got 48% on

Eh,
I can see Ryu H being the more popular character. Master Chief's just
so random year to year, and as far as we know next year would have the
same results but with the opposite winner. Hell, he's probably the most
random character in the bracket. I just don't get how Crash has actually increased in strength the past few years. Well, OK, I can see nostalgia somewhat, and a Crash boost would make more sense than a Simon boost. We really need to see a Crash Bandicoot game in the next Games Contest. --- Not Wylvane |

As
far as I know, isn't Halo Reach more of a true sequel (or prequel I
guess) while ODST was more of just an expansion pack? If he got a boost

Halo
Reach has to stand out for it to matter. people bought ODST as a
distraction until Modern Warfare 2 came out. that series has eaten Halo

Is
Activision trying to turn Modern Warfare into an annual series? ODST
was quickly forgotten last year, and 2009 was one of our weakest gaming
years in a while. 2010 is a relative gauntlet of big releases. I'm not
picking Chief in a debated match next year unless he's also up against

it's
been an annual series. the main team only makes games every other year
though so a backup company makes the other games. that's why World at
War bombed in comparison to Modern Warfare 1 and 2. --- xyzzy |

Warfare has been an annual series for almost a decade now. Even if
'Modern Warfare #' isn't released every year, a spinoff will be. And

What's there to distract from Halo Reach? I can't think of anything else that's MW2-level hype coming out this year. Then again, there will still be enough notable games coming out to overshadow Reach. Galaxy 2 and FF13 will likely hit off the final GotY for sure, and PS3 will have GoW3 in its corner. Don't think Reach will have a chance with all those games, though I think it'll do a bit better than ODST fared. At any rate, Master Chief has an outside chance of being respectable next year, I feel. Probably will still suck it up, but this really is his last chance to go out with a bang rather than a whimper like, say, pretty much every match he's ever been in besides 2007. --- Not Wylvane |

thing with Reach though is at least it'll be the FPS to play of the
holiday, since this is Infinity Wards year off, so Reach will have the
ability to shine with FPS fans without a MW there to steal its

Also,
Reach has to get Chief's face on clothes and soda cans. MW2 killed
ODST, and Soap still got rocked by a character from a weaker, less
popular game. I couldn't give less of a crap about the game itself;
