~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Solid Snake, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Tifa, Vincent, Zelda, Kirby, etc group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters in the past.

The Fodder Line - A final X-Stat value of 15% or below.

The problem is that you are basing your expectations on a Black Haired Cloud, not on Zack, as I was.

It seems like Zack as a character on his own doesn't seem to hold much merit. He gathers most of his strength, as it would seem, from the fact that he is the Black Haired Cloud.

That is, unless you think that MM has a legitimate shot against Mario, or anyone else of strength that high (he doesn't).

Zack sucks in polls and always has, and Cid was horribly overrated. Yuna is horrible as well. What good match has she ever had outside the illegitimate female stats? This is all easily explained, and anyone looking at this and starting up Mega Man > Mario hype needs an IQ test.

You KNOW where I'm about to go without stupid Mega Man > Mario sounds. Don't make me go there.

Everybody with a score of 20 or less got the match wrong.

Once again compared to the overall prediction percentage, the top performers did well. The -4s, -5s and -6s brackets broke 70 and the -7s and -8s stayed above 50. Prediction percentage fell into the low 30s after going down a few more tiers.

13 people fell off the Top 50 today. Shadowhiei, TheOceIot, bogalx, edgewalker16, Kiyala, Purist, pezzicle, TheMightyPeanut, ssbm1221, smasherx, lolo262626, Zylothewolf and Paratroopa1 didn't have Ike winning.

1 person got it wrong and survived. Safer_777 also didn't have Ike winning but manages to hang on 50th place.

People need to realize, as I have now, that Zack's strength comes almost solely from looking like a Black Haired Cloud. Take that away from him and you get this. It would have been much closer in round 1. Unfortunate.

Time to make wild, abstract assumptions based on the first few minutes.

You know who this is good for?

Sonic!

If we infer that Mega Man boosted to near-Mario levels, who knows how much of a boost Sonic can get from a 2D downloadable throwback. And Sonic probably needed it more, too. If this boost is bigger than we thought, we could be looking at a top 8 that can't be touched by even the near-elites, in which case Crono will be even more lolworthy. But let's wait for the game to come out first.

Mega Man > Mario makes even less sense than Mega Man > Link in 2004, honestly. But I think I can swing it !!

MMX is barely worth 60% on Red/Ocelot. But the worst percentage he put up on Mario was around 44-45%, in the Link match I believe (and if you believe he's Nintendo then they both got thrashed, but Mario in particular to be fair - although, last place factor made up for that). MMX is significantly weaker than Mega Man, and this can work by the stats!

Please don't clutter this up with your 'common sense' now, people.

I don't see why Cid > Lightning is a lock. Or even that Cid > Cecil would be a lock. Cecil looked great against Knuckles. People are putting the Sonic team down way too quickly. I don't see how you could possibly think that Cid would blow Lightning out of the water, or even that Cid is a heavy favorite.

Zack is at a huge disadvantage here due to the pic, so if he breaks 40% I'd give him at least a few more percentage points in determining his regular picture strength.
