Vivi/Tidus seems like a good match to base things on, but it's not at all clear that Tidus = Rikku. Indeed, he was projected to get 55.21% on her in 2005, so I'd think that it's probably not true.

I'm much more comfortable calling them about equal. The stronger Tidus is, the closer it brings Sub-Zero to Kirby. Would anyone ever consider Subz>Kirby?

Sub-Zero/Kirby? Those are two antipodes of character design, there. But yeah, I wouldn't think Sub-Zero would get close to Kirby.

I would. Liquid is really weird, and I don't see anything unreasonable in assuming that the Snakes > the rest when it comes to the MGS fanbase.

It doesn't seem unreasonable when you think about it, but after MGS4, Ocelot being stronger than Liquid isn't that farfetched.

Krahen Prophet did a fatality.

Ike seemed definitely stronger last year and he's got the cooler pic. If both guys had gotten like 70% against their respective opponents, I think there'd be less worry, but the fact that both Ike and Zidane looked bad has caused some people to get nervous.

It's kinda like Ryu/Chief.

Plus, the fact that it's a day match seems to favor Ike. If this were a night match, I'd be very worried about Zidane.

How prominent is Zidane in Dissidia? Is he likable/popular for players of the game?

I think if Zidane wins, it'll be because of that game, but I don't know if there's any reason it would really help. Other than the fact that Zidane was basically worthless before, and it's very easy to increase in strength if you're worthless.

And I don't think the bar for overcoming Ike is all that high.

Oh - and how popular is Ike among Brawl players? Would Brawl have done jack for him?

Ike is big time casual bait, from what I hear. He's basically the Roy of Brawl. It definitely would have helped him. The fact that he has SSB-esque trends seems to be proof of this. Zidane's one of the better characters in Dissidia as well, from what I hear.

Zidane is easy to use, then again so was Tidus, for the story he's relegated to funny midcarder with Bartz as his coconspirator.

But he surprise Fly kicks Garland so that alone makes him uber awesome.

I'd take Liquid over Ocelot because Liquid's contest performances make no sense and maybe MGS fans are stupid and will mix up Liquid and Solid because they both have Snake in the name.

Zidane is a lot of fun to use in Dissidia, very easy to pick up and do well with. He was one of the 'best' characters in the game from what I remember, too.

Looks like Altair's not going to get anywhere close to 45% here. I'm impressed with how well Vivi's held up here against Altair's day vote.

FFIX's day vote > MGS's day vote, apparently.

And FFIX's night is certainly better. Vivi might be able to push this back up to 56% before it's over.

Eh, there's really no day vote change at all in weekend day matches. Most graphs I've taken a look at actually have the night characters improving a bit throughout the day compared to day characters (when looking at 12:00-00:00), but there's no hard rule to it at all.

KrahenProphet and Nintendo cleaned me out in the Guru Contest.

A sizable number of the people here have Mario > 64% for their oracle predictions and when discussing about the potential top 20 characters in the contest, most felt that BB isn't anywhere strong enough to be a contender for that.

BB, please do well tonight, at least prove that your win over Kirby in the 4 ways wasn't a fluke.

Oh, I expect Big Boss to bring some pain tonight. It'd be fun to see him take an update or two from Mario, though I don't know if he's gonna do THAT well. Then again, Ammy cut Luigi...so here's to hoping.

Snake was able to steal some updates from Mario in 2005. I have high hopes for Big Boss. I really do think he's one of our near elites now, and I hope he'll prove it tonight.

Same here, just gotta hope he's not a four-way invention. The only time we've seen him one-on-one is against Auron in 2005 after MGS3 was released...and that was ugly. Now that MGS has aged like wine, MGS4 came out, there's less confusion about who he is, and having much better pics (as long as we stay out of the sprite-round)...yeah, I think he can be amongst our top characters.

Yeah. And Vivi probably has the least amount of brackets saying he'd win twice out of him, DK, Altair, and Liquid. So this'll sting the leaderboard. Hard.

21 of the top 100 guys are in the Guru. Of those 21, 7 do not have Vivi today. I'm just gonna use that to assume that about 1/3 of the top 100 will miss this one.

Yeah, out of all 4 guys in this 4-pack, I imagine Vivi probably has the least bracket support overall. His prediction percentage should end up pretty low.

That's a good question. It's hard to say, really. He never had a fair match last year with all the LFF. We know that with Link's help, Zack was able to get close enough to lead him for a little while. We saw MMX come close to beating him once and doing really well on him another time. Zelda got 37.77% in round 1 against him last year, and she may have been underperforming a bit there due to LFF.

Although the fact that Liquid wasn't able to get anywhere close to Mario or Mega Man X despite Luigi's interference seems pretty telling. He ended up closer to Weegi than to Mario or X. He managed about 40% on Mario there. Mario is certainly not as strong as he used to be, and that match with Samus last year seemed to prove it. I think Big Boss can beat 2005 Snake's mark on Mario, and he doesn't have to be at Noble Nine levels to do it because 2005 Mario was probably the strongest he's ever been by a wide margin.
