Simon's performance was close to Tails, and Tails impressed like hell against Kratos, so I do think this is a sudden spike in Simon's strength more than Ezio looking pathetic.

Although, I was the first person to talk about both silent protagonist LFF and CT/CV SFF, so it's not remarkable that I find them to be intuitively reasonable ideas. Besides they make Crono look good, which is the whole point of all this stats manipulation.......isn't it?

Like Red said, Alucard has looked really good this contest, on top of a possible CV boost and there not being an accurate read on Simon there's at least the outside shot that Simon is relatively strong. In which case Ezio still has a shot at Zelda. That's the only thing I'm trying to gain for it, and you can usually get stats to say what you want.

That said, realistically I am expecting Zelda to beat Ezio about 55-45.

ToS/Nintendo makes more sense to me, since at least ToS was on the Gamecube and one of the few big third-party games for it, not to mention being easily the biggest Tales game on GameFAQs.

CT/Castlevania... What the hell do they share? Castlevania's most well-known games are on the NES and PS1. Super Castlevania 4 is a loved game, but even then I don't see how it would overlap with CT, especially since they came out on opposite ends of the SNES's life span.

I guess there's Red Hair SFF?

You're right. x-stats are completely worthless in any and all situations, especially 1v1.

Let's try and have some reading comprehension here and point out the operative word in my sentence.

Actually, red hair SFF does make the most sense for me. Look at how popular characters with crazy hair like Cloud and Crono do! Headwear is also popular here!

CT and Castlevania just feel like the kind of games that the same group of people would play. I think from just looking at the match results, there's a decently good case for it, whether or not it makes sense intuitively.

Well Altair made a believer out of me. His performance against Liquid was easily one of the most impressive performances of Round 1. Took a match that seemed to favor Liquid and just spanked him. It’s even more impressive considering how much Ezio sucked it up in his match.

Meanwhile, nothing has changed between DK and Vivi over the years. Both do look weaker these days, so maybe they’re falling at the same rate?

Anyway, I like Altair here now that Round 1 has passed. Going from killing Lucario to losing to Duke is one thing, but he’s already beaten Liquid easily this year, so the sky’s the limit.

Moltar’s Bracket: Liquid > Vivi (whoops)

Moltar’s Prediction: Vivi: 48% - Altair: 52%



Lopen’s Analysis

I do not feel good about Vivi here. Dude did almost identically against Donkey Kong as last time, but man I just knew that either Liquid Snake would beat Vivi, or Altair with his stealthy ways would prove to be Liquid's foil, as stealthy folk often are, and he would go on to trash Vivi.

Lo in taking Liquid out so decisively, I'm pretty sure he's going to dispatch Vivi with some ease.

If nothing else, just think of it like this. "Liquid Snake vs Donkey Kong, who ya got?" Day match certainly doesn't hurt the assassin either, as he dresses in white to blend in with daylight. How cunning!

Lopen's prediction:
Altair with 55.33%



Transience’s Analysis

Screw analysis, I'm going to go straight x-stats on this one.

1.) Would Vivi get 59% on Liquid Snake? Probably not.
2.) Would Altair get 56% on Donkey Kong? Probably.
3.) If Altair and Vivi were equal, Donkey Kong would get 53.24% on Liquid Snake. Would I pick Donkey Kong to beat Liquid Snake with 53%? Hell, I'd be skeptical of picking him to win period.

Vivi has to hope that there are some loyal Square voters because, by the numbers, he looks like the weaker character by a good margin. That picture doesn't really accentuate his black mage features, either.

This is the first time I'm doing this, but I'm going against my bracket here. The way Altair absolutely wrecked Liquid and the way Vivi...kinda didn't do the same to DK has me worried enough that I'm gonna go against my bracket. Plus there's the fact that this is a day match...

I dunno, I feel like Vivi's probably always been a little overrated in strength, and I think Altair can take advantage of that here. We'll see.

Red Sox’s Analysis

Before the contest, Vivi was the favorite in this match, and most people had him advancing over Liquid Snake. Altair shattered those expectations with his 59-41 demolition of Liquid in round 1, which established him as the clear favorite here. Vivi should be stronger than Liquid, but not by any massive amount. Liquid established himself as a decent midcarder after MGS4 with his impressive 45% on Luigi and then 43% on Megaman X. He may have fallen backward somewhat this year, but going by the other MGS characters, probably not by very much.

Altair’s 59% on Liquid, then, looks very very good. It was probably helped along to the tune of a percent or two by the day match- but this is a day match also, so Altair will have the same advantage here. He got a large boost from AC2 since last year, but remember that he started off already at a decently high level- he was Duke’s equal who put up 39% on Zack. Vivi does have winning chances here, but I think Altair probably takes it in a walk.

Prediction: Altair with 56.56%

Hey, it's FantasyFreak999 again with my guest writeup for Vivi vs. Altair

This match has me very worried for my bracket pick. I have Vivi advancing, but Altair's performance has me a little worried about the black mage's chances. I would expect Vivi to beat out Liquid Snake by the same amount, so I'm worried for my favorite black mage. I think the lil guy can still beat the assassin, although it won't be by a lot. Let's just hope my favorite mage can win over fans with his lovability.

Vivi is a pair of glowing yellow dots. Vivi is one of those characters that can benefit massively from the picture due to the Black Mage being so recognizable. He's lost all of that with that picture. Whoever made that one needs to be slapped.

We actually have round 1 performances against fairly well established characters here, despite what you may think about Liquid. There's more reason to consider Altair the favorite here than any of the other debatable matches this round, most of which had new/fodder/rarely seen characters in their round 1 matches.

I finally started watching somebody playing Pokemon Red on YouTube, and the game currently looks quite unique in comparison to other Nintendo franchises and RPGs.

Uh...maybe there's a pic factor for FMV cutscenes from the PS1? For some reason they seem to induce nostalgia in me despite the fact that I didn't do much gaming back then. And the only PS1 games I remember seeing anybody play were Tomb Raider, PaRappa the Rapper, and Intelligent Qube. Any questions?

Intelligent Qube is an old PS1 puzzle game that is well known for taking a different approach to soundtrack. From what I've seen the game looks...somewhat fun.

There's not really a pic advantage if two sides prefer one pic over the other!

It's not like, say, Bacondorf or Solid **** where pretty much everyone agrees Sonic and Pikachu will have the pic advantage!

Assuming we do get ****ty sprites for the Dorf and the Snake, of course. But even then, Sonic and Pikachu sprites are going to be strong anyway.
