Sora will never beat Squall unless the leave Squall out of KH3, and Sora is a total badass. Squall is always going to get some more exposure because of his popularity in the same way that Cloud will always get extra exposure. Whether it be a cameo, or a movie, or a completely new spinoff game.

Well, from looking at the last 1 on 1 contest Squall > Sora for sure. Sora hit 45.7 on MM, which would have tranlated to about 45.2% on Sonic.. On the other hand Squall was estimated to get around 47.5% on Sonic. The difference then was at least 2%. The 4way matches still supported that gap. So I really think it still holds.

all the SF characters save Ryu seem to be in the same close general high fodder/lower midcarder area to me. Chun Li and M Bison were hardly different in strength.

Sora was mysteriously weak in 2007, at least in later rounds. 2008 is more recent and thus more reliable. I don't know why Sora did so much better in 2008 but characters do this some times, especially in four-wways. I mean look at Sonic last year. Bad as he's looking now last year was just abysmal in every way after a mostly strong 2007.

Are you trying to suggest that Yoshi and Fox overlapped with Squall? Because that doesn't make much sense.

Characters can vary a lot from year to year. 2007 Sora looked a lot weaker than both 2006 and 2008 Sora.

I'm a big supporter of Sora being stronger then what he's shown, but he's not up there with Squall. Squall/Vincent/Auron are on a tier by themselves right now (Crono is in there as well). Sora is on a tier right under with Sonic, Kirby, and Ganondorf.

Sora had his chance to show his strength versus MM in 2k6. He did well, but it was clear he was under Squall/Vincent by a couple % at least. That has held in the 4ways. Do people really think Sora > Squall?

There's really nothing showing Sora > Squall other then blind fanboyism, but to each their own I guess.

Damn, Altair/Vivi is tomorrow. I'm going to miss a lot of it. Hopefully Altair takes a big lead going into the final half so I don't have to worry about missing it.

I'd include Sora in that tier too, though I wouldn't take him to beat any of those names listed (or Tifa). I don't know if there's anybody Crono/Vincent/Auron/Squall/Tifa could beat outside of themselves that Sora wouldn't beat too.

I made a 128-game 1v1 bracket, with the 12-hour format. Except, I think it'd be better to start the 24-hour matches in round 3- that would only add 2 weeks to the contest and give the more interesting late-round matches the attention they deserve without subjecting us to boring first round matches for 24 hours.

Character Battle VIII - 59/72 - Today's Winners: Sonic and Ganondorf

Kirby lost to Bowser in 2005 and lost to Luigi in 2006. Since then, he went on to beat Dante (twice), Leon, Master Chief, and Sonic, all legitimately. He also beat Sephiroth with SFF/LFF/momentum, which is damn impressive.
