~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Solid Snake, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Tifa, Vincent, Zelda, Kirby, etc group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters in the past.

The Fodder Line - A final X-Stat value of 15% or below.

But doesn't Bacon also accept renders? Send in a render from Smash or something if you want him to look good. Is there some obscure rule I'm missing that says characters with sprites can't use renders, even with Snake and Ganondorf where it makes them weaker?

A lot of people that dislike Sonic because of the series path now are going to download this game and relive the nostalgic days of Sonic vs. Mario, when Sonic was in its prime and was probably more popular than Mario at one point.

You were talking about how Mega Man-fans were buying MM9...but are people who weren't Sonic-fans back during the 32-bit era going to have much nostalgia about that era and buy Sonic 4? No. You're admitting Sonic 4 appeals to the same people, and that's okay because that would be correct.

The one thing I love about Blasting Zone is that the energy pillar still rises up out of the earth even if you use it in outer space.

It's still not as ridiculous as Zell running around the entire world in 30 seconds though!

1. HUGE fiction. I've always thought Ken would be stronger than Akuma, and dorfo's pic really does look bad. I expect to see again perform a good 5%+ better than Akuma did.
2. Fact, although we could have some contenders. Seph/Vincent jumps to mind.
3. Fiction. I expect (maybe hope more than expect) Ryu/Dante to be a slugfest.

The difference is that most of old Mega Man's fans still vote Mega Man. A lot of old Sonic fans don't vote for Sonic Team anymore because they hate recent games so much. Sonic 4 could bring them back.

Fiction. I honestly think Ken is going to avoid the doubling, and by a comfortable margin too.

Fiction. Link got 71% against Alucard; I can't see Kirby getting a similar percentage against GlaDOS. It'll probably be more like 68-32, I think. Plus, I think Sora/Laharl, Squall/Terra and Leon/Sackboy will be noteworthy blowouts as well.

Hmm, Sonic's looking pretty good, now. if he stays around that percent, he looks not bad. Bad for an SFF match, but Knuckles is a midcarder and a big chunk of the Sonic community prefer him over Sonic.

That said, Knuckles would probably win this if this was A Sonic character contest, but the amount of people that would just vote Sonic because they don't know or care about the two here easily gives Sonic enough ground to look good.

@paulg235: In case you didn't know I am the Analysis Crew Guest for the next match, and I ended up pegging Ganondorf to get 63.43%. Seems like we both agree, though I will confess that I lowered the percent a bit due to the Wind Waker pic (as much as I think Wind Waker is underrated on this site, I agree that Zelda characters shouldn't be drawing WW pics).

Looks like Sonic has a better morning vote than Knuckles. He's gone up about 1% since 5:30 A.M.

FICTION: I've already explained the Ganondorf business.
FACT: GLaDOS broke 40% on Falco last year, and Falco turned out to be weaksauce (at this point he looks worse than PEACH for chrissakes!). Kirby is much stronger than Falco most probably, and I couldn't think of any matches that could end up with a larger blowout. It's very, very possible.
FACT: Eh, once again this one's more of a "very, very possible" than absolutely true, but I don't see Ryu/Dante being as close as you all are expecting, and...what else is there besides that? Need more info before answering, I suppose.

I don't see why it would be expected that Vivi/Altair would be close right now. I mean, any match has the potential to surprise, but I don't see how Vivi is in the mix.

I agree with Zidane/Ike, and Mega Man/Zack.

I don't think Hayabusa is going to be able to make the match close. I think MC is going to XBOX him into the ground, and it's not going to look good on him.

Charizard/Kratos could be close for sure, with GOW3 coming out, but it will be nice to see where Tails stands in light of that match.

Riku/Captain Falcon I think is going to be somewhat close, but most likely Riku is going to win by at least 5%, Ryu/Dante is going to be epic and I think Ryu is going to edge it. Yoshi is going to beat MissingNo in a vote infested stuff-fest. Big Daddy is going to drop the hammer on Ness I think.
