Oh yeah, it's not like this makes me less nervous about Sonic's chances against dorf and Kirby; he's clearly got a couple of fights ahead of him. I just wanted Knux to do better.

Anyone who expected Knuckles to make a match of this was either forgetting Crono/Magus and Mega Man/Zero or just blatantly ignoring them.

Now anyone who hoped he would make a match of it...I feel your pain.

YES! Sonic is only 0.06% below my Oracle right now. For not knowing how this match would turn out, I made a prediction under the assumption that Lightning would barely beat Knuckles in a match, which means a percentage a little bit higher than what Sonic had last round. Though that can be error prone due to SFF/rSFF.

The top tiers didn't do too badly considering the low prediction percentage. We lose our last -3 but all the -4s get the match right. All the way down to the -11s manage to stay above 50 for the prediction percentage.

9 people fell off the Top 50. tazzyboyishere, Aaromier, user345, chocoboslayer, RappinHobo9292, firefdr, MysteriousStan, Danyeahl and DragoonDave07 did not have Weighted Companion Cube winning the match.

1 person got it wrong and survived. Former first place Fr0g802 also did not have Weighted Companion Cube winning the match.

I don't see why there would be that much SFF tbqh. The Sonic fanbase has always been split on Knux and Sonic and quite often people prefer Knux to Sonic. This is just Sonic being stronger, by a lot.

And if Lightning > Knuckles, legit, Sonic is a beast this year.

He's the Lion with a fire tail from Final Fantasy VII.

Sonic has always been over 60% on Knuckles without SFF and Knuckles looked worse than ever before this year, definitely the most disappointing performance from Sonic Team. I don't think this is really that much SFF if there is anyway

Yeah but with Kefka and Terra's performances how can you really say that Knux is definitely weaker? If it follows the trend Cecil is a lot stronger than originally anticipated. Unfortunately we still won't get a good read until Ganon vs. Sonic.

True enough, Red, but I like to believe that there's no way Knuckles could have dropped from a 47% on Squall to zones where this wouldn't be enough to at least prove Sonic is still Noble 9 strength. If you guys think Squall is the 10th strongest (excluding joke characters) do you really think that Squall has made up 12+% points on Knux now?

Yes, because Knuckles really had no reason to make that match close without dropping or Cecil making an unrealistic boost. Cecil could only have boosted so much before we start getting into silly things like Cecil giving Kirby a good match.

2005 Knuckles > 2010 Knuckles

That goes a long way to it, and the likelihood that Knuckles may have overperformed in that match to begin with due to the unlikely upset of Magus.

Sonic should beat Ganon in the sprite round, even this weakened Sonic. To impress, he has to win easily (55%+). To look as good as 2006 Sonic, I'd probably set him a target of 60% or so given that it is the sprite round and we're dealing with a much weakened Ganondorf than TP Hype Ganondorf in 2006.

Why not though? The board in general is well known for loving older FFs, and then with the ports and Dissidia Cecil has been exposed to the mainstream FF lovers. So I think that the FF fanbase in general backing Cecil including the somewhat obvious site shift could easily bring Cecil up to higher levels.

I mean I wouldn't rule out a Knuckles drop -- but I also wouldn't think that Knuckles has dropped 12% under any circumstances at this point.

I know that Squall is stronger and that Knux is likely weaker (although with Sonic 4 eminent I am pretty optimistic about Sonic Team getting a boost, especially since it's going back to the roots), but I guess maybe I'm being bullheaded in refusing to believe that Knuckles could have dropped that far, and that Sonic isn't still at least 8th in the NN.

It's definitely possible for Knuckles to drop that much- Magus did, and Magus and Knuckles have been in very similar situations, with both Crono and Sonic dropping off a good ways since 2005. It takes less of an impact on the site for weaker characters to boost or fall than stronger characters, so Knux and Magus have felt the pain more than Crono and Sonic.
