For what it's worth, the ranking is pretty much the same. Ryu dominated more in the site-wide poll, and Gief, Dhalsim, and Honda did worse there. Ryu >>> Ken > Chun > Blanka > Guile > Sim is still true for both polls. Honda and Gief are switched.

Also, considering this poll, I never understood why some people wanted to rally Guile for the next CB. Not only did he do pretty badly, but he actually did worse than Blanka. So I think if anything, Blanka should be next in line.

Did you not see the same pathetic round 1 performance that I saw or something? Just because not many people picked it ahead of time doesn't mean it's a lock to not happen. Example, after Cecil's performance, Terra and Kefka went from having no chance to having a great chance, and actually won..

I dunno. I'd have to see Ryu H. do something besides roll over and completely die against someone with mainstream appeal before I consider the match with Master Chief to be anything remotely near debatable. The guy just implodes when he runs into anyone whom the casuals would gobble up.

Ammy's not exactly impressing here; he's merely performing up to expectations.

Analysis

While I no longer believe that The Boss can win against WCC I do find it a bit ridiculous that some people expect it to crush The Boss. Sure joke characters are not as weak as what some people were predicting, but at the same time they don’t seem to be as strong as they were in four-ways.

Weighted Companion Cube may have pulled off one of the biggest blowouts of the round, but anyone that has played Dragon Age should have seen this coming. Sandal is quite literally a random person in the game that nobody remembers the name of. Had the entrant been Enchantment Guy from Dragon Age he would have done much better.

The Boss also isn’t some weak character. People may have laughed at Nathan Drake for failing to win, but it does help show that The Boss is high fodder or even near the fodder line. Had jokes been as weak as I thought they would be I wouldn’t have any problem taking The Boss, but after watching L-Block easily win over HK-47 it would take a miracle, especially since if it comes down to a close match WCC will just rally to get enough of a win.

L-Block got 64% against HK-47, I would take The Boss over HK-47 and I would take L-Block over WCC. Like I said the gap is a bit too big to cover, but The Boss should put up a respectable performance on the cube. It would be pretty exciting to see a 15 seed in the third round, but that may be asking for too much.
