Ammy seems to have gotten better as the years went by, but that's just an impression, what do the stats say? --- Shakes Fist! |
ZFS | Posted 2/17/2010 9:22:14 PM | message detail |
Nah,
it is pretty obscure; it didn't impress all that much in the last games
contest. Ammy's just got an appealing design that people will vote for
regardless of the game she's in. Can't say I agree there. Considering its competition -- all casual, multi-million selling games -- Okami did as good as you could have reasonably expected it to do there. It was never going to be in contention to advance, but that was a good show. --- wheresoever you go, go with all your heart |

2008
Luigi (which is undoubtedly overrated because it's based off of Liquid)
gets 66%+ on Ammy. In my mind, I've adjusted Luigi and Bowser down to
Yoshi's level in the 2008 stats, in which case Luigi gets 61.71% on her. So not too far off. In a full 24 hour match or a day match, Weegi probably gets close to that. Ammy will look better because she gets a night match though. --- "Hold on a minute! That testimony stinks!" "Witness! You can't just say 'Hello' and expect us to get anywhere! MK
got 41.73% on Ryu in 2008 while Ammy got 40.63% on him. Between that
and MK having more exposure, I'll still take MK...though I fear MK
could have been more of a four-way creation than Ammy ever was. Before
Luigi/MK, we never saw MK have more than 22.61% in any given poll, plus
L-Block or Nintendo characters were in all of his previous matches.
Luigi smashed MK with SFF though, so it's hard to tell what's the
truth, but he did win his vote-in poll despite having Marth and Peach
in the poll...but that goes back to low percentages; 13.6% isn't a lot
of votes. Whatever though, Ammy's proving she would definitely make for a fun match with MK, even if she's the underdog...or rather, ahem, underwolf. --- T E A M C H O C O L A T E http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7355/64590879.png |

No
reason to fear someone being a 4-way creation anymore, really, except
perhaps for World of Warcraft. I do think the spotlight might have
shifted away from Meta Knight a bit since 2008, since he's the star of
Brawl. I mostly agree, though I think I should have said MK could have looked substantially better in his particular four-way matches just by never needing big numbers. Sephiroth was in both of his matches in 2007 while MK was dealing with Nintendo-LFF in every direction, and Ryu/L-Block were too far out of his league to be competitive anyway (though having The Dog be smashed let MK get his highest percentage ever at that time). His hardcore-appeal to big Kirby-fans and competitive SSBB-players could have helped him out in these times, though I don't like bringing up the hard-core theory again. It's not like Luigi's much stronger than Fox nor is Fox a scrub in the Nintendo-chain, and MK broke 40% on Fox in 2007. Peach impressed against Gordon three matches ago, and MK beat her nicely before SSBB ever came out (and beat her worse in the vote-ins). I think MK's probably legit, but the way Luigi killed him makes me cautious of his low percentages in the past. I dunno though, I might be over-rating the difference here. I just wish MK would have been in a better position to be read or competitive.
