FFVII could have been a much heavier weight, but then again, you have to expect a pretty good overlap for FFVII/CT to balance out whatever overlap Mario 64/GoldenEye have, which I just wasn't buying.

They make the contest far far more interesting. It's meaningless without them there- what's the point of a popularity contest where you disqualify what's most popular?

I wanted to see CT/RBY, but now I think that's probably a rout for RBY, so let's put it against LTTP and put CT against the winner of SSBM/SSBB instead.

Eh, you'd need non-Zelda Nintendo to drain OoT more effectively. You'd almost certainly have to have Brawl in there because it'd be SFF'd the least, as we already saw. Maybe you could throw Mario 3 and/or Mario World (definitely not Mario 64) in there.

Still don't see it happening. Have a hard time seeing FFVII get upset either. Those two games are just too far above the rest.

Analysis

It’s the start of the second round and like the first round it is more of a formality. Last round Link didn’t put up his usual dominate blowout, but for some reason GameFAQs has become a lot more anti-blowout. Alucard on the other hand made a debated match into a joke winning over Magus rather easily. Interestingly enough should Alucard play his cards right he could end up pretty high on this high bracket’s x-stats due to all of the SFF.

How high of a percent Link will get is pretty debatable. Usually I would expect Link to get low to mid 70s, but after watching Cloud and Sephiroth perform if he puts up a performance like that you might as well end the contest since only a massive rally from Missingno could catch Link. Link failing to break 80% on Thrall does mean a character like Alucard can look decent against Link.

Alucard has a great chance at breaking 30% on Link in this match, something in the past that very few characters can manage. The main question is what is Alucard’s plan and how will he use it. Personally I think his plan is to have a great performance here while Link SFF his competitors thus making him second in the raw stats until the final.

I sort of think that Zelda fans may not realize the danger with something like CT or RBY, CT because it doesn't look all that threatening, RBY because it's a fellow Nintendo game, and LTTP may get a lot of votes.

Either way, LTTP should be the worst game to have with OOT. The thing is the big old Nintendo games don't really LFF each other all that much. Mario 3 overlaps with everything. TP may be a bit redundant though.....switch it out with Melee or Brawl in that case.

Alucard should beat Ridley easily (Magus probably beats Ridley easily), plus it's a night match which is heavily in Alucard's favor (and not Ridley's). If Link is anything like Cloud Alucard breaking 30% is damn near assured...but I don't think he is, which is why my Oracle is around 75%.

I'd rather not see another Games Contest until 2011 or later. But I'm all for removing FF7 and OoT since there's lots of games that could win, such as RBY, LttP, FFX, and Brawl. We could then have a bonus match with the contest winner, FF7, and OoT, and then a final match with the top two (i.e. FF7 vs OoT rematch).

I'd also rather put off a Fictional Character Contest another year. We should remove all winners and do an eight-character ToC (Link, Cloud, Seph, Mario, Samus, L-Block, and Snake as 2006 male bracket winner unless Missingno pulls off the victory this year). If Snake isn't in the main bracket, there are plenty of characters who could win like Mega Man, Vincent, Squall, and Missingno. And if he is due to Missingno winning... At least Snake will finally win a contest!

But yeah, I think we could at least do one more regular character contest in this format before we switch directions. Hopefully the bracket will be better as well!

I'm wondering that as well. Just the fact that we have two known guys facing each other might make things more normal. I mean, it's doubtful Alucard overperforms as much as fodder like Thrall or Ridley. I still have him pegged for the high 20s, though.

Pretty good prediction percentage in the top tiers considering the overall prediction percentage and how close the match was. Other than the lone -3, the prediction percentage didn't quite hit 90, though.
