Man, I'm laughing at everyone that said Peach had no chance and were mocking people who brought up GFNW. Seriously, it's such a weird phenomenon. He SHOULD be crushing Peach. He SHOULD crush Sam Fisher, Max Payne, Tina Armstrong. But he doesn't. He couldn't even crush Phoenix. I suspect he has a bit of a hardcore fanbase and that's why he did well in 4ways but loses to popular characters who are marketed heavily in the mainstream, which is why I disregarded the 4ways when valuing Gordon. I mostly looked at 2006, the height of his HL2 popularity. Fortunately he had an easy path to predict this year.

So what do people think about this? Is this Gordon falling off after a couple of good years from HL2 and Orange Box? It's another sign that Tifa is at Vincent's level or higher, for what it's worth. The commonly used comparison from 2005 has 2 issues with it:

1. It was before KH2.
2. Vincent got his match after AC while Tifa got hers before.

Yeah, Gordon's a bit of a weird phenom, though I want to see how he does against Tifa before I start bashing him too much. He won't advance against barring some GameSpot-esque rallying (which really REALLY shouldn't happen), but I don't think he's going to look that bad either. He got ~37% on Sora in 2006 and showed a pretty clear increase in strength between 2007 and 2008. Our four-way stats haven't shown us many instances where they're VERY wrong without reason, either.

It won't be close, but I want to see what happens against Tifa first.

Well honestly, Peach isn't too far behind Meta Knight, who did break 41% on Ryu. If you factor in that silly Nintendo SFF, Peach might even be around Meta Knight's level. She should have at least broken 40% here, although I assume some people were expecting a legitimate Nintendo boost after the GS contest and a great year from Valve.

No biggie. In the end, at least Gordon isn't blowing up any brackets.
