Having missed the RBY-phenomenon, I like the second Red-pic better. Either way's cool enough though, but where's the shadowy bad-ass Red-pic from awhile back?

And I'm still behind Hayabusa > MC. Spy looked worse than Crash in the four-way contests yet Hayabusa did 1.57% better on Crash than MC did on Spy. MC also failed to do anything productive with the ASV...while you can blame some of that on rallying, Hayabusa's also going to have a good ASV while Spy's normally isn't so hot. Hayabusa certainly bombed against Crash for those of us who couldn't get MC/Crash out of our minds, but when you pay attention to the four-way contests and see what MC did later that same day, I still prefer what Hayabusa did.

Because you made it seem like anyone taking Peach was a moron and Gordon would blow her away. This is hardly that, as Gordon has epic failed in his attempt to cover his spread and a pick of Peach > Gordon looks more sensible than Liquid > Altair after the facts.

Star and Turds of Round 1: Heart Division

Star of the Division – Charizard
Charizard was the most debated character of the round, he was the winner of the Nomination Rally Tournament and while most people had him winning this match all eyes were on him to see how much he would win. Charizard opened the match on fire and not only made a good claim against Kratos in the second round, but also made a claim that he could be the strongest Pokemon in the contest. I’ve also seen a lot of hype for him to actually win this division outright, but I would like to wait and see on that one.

Runner-up – L-Block
Strength of joke characters was one of the main questions when we changed formats and while WCC looked good his opponent was also a joke. L-Block on the other hand had a legit opponent. So what does it do? Well it puts up a decent performance, it wasn’t a contest champion threat, but at the same time L-Block cemented its position as a high mid-card which is a lot higher than what some people was giving credit for.

Turd of the Division – Arthas Menethil
This was expected to have been a simple match, Arthas defeated Diablo and Diablo defeated Kefka and since it didn’t look like either character has changed over the years it seemed like a safe bet. Well Kefka started up with the usual board vote, but it never went down. This wasn’t Kefka barely winning, Arthas failed to break 40% in this match easily making him one of the biggest embarrassments of the contest. Kefka boosting may have been a reason, but when you almost flip a 60/40 result, there’s only so much you can give the boost credit.

Runner-up – Kratos
After Charizard’s performance Kratos needed an impressive performance to prove that he should still be considered the favourite in the second round match. Kratos then proceeded to let Tails break 39% on him. Had this been old Sonic one could make an argument for this not being a total disaster, but when Shadow, Sonic and Knuckles all fell below expectations it is really hard to look at the bright side of things. Any hype between those two characters died on that match though it may resurface once round 2 comes along.

Star and Turds of Round 1: Varia Division

Star of the Division – Jill Valentine
Jill was the massive favourite on the board though most people expected this match to have been rather close with Jill being the favourite because of Resident Evil 5. Jill then proceeded to open a can of kick ass on Niko causing one of the biggest blowouts for a day match. There is only so much you can blame on Niko dropping and Jill’s performance did fall in line rather well with Wesker. Too bad Jill wasn’t put in the lower four-pack, she could have caused a major upset that would have caught a lot of people off guard.

Runner-up – Jecht
After watching Sub-Zero dispatching Tidus rather easily a lot of people became worried about Jecht. The guy could be compared with Zack in terms of screen time for Final Fantasy X. Still after weathering the board vote and taking the lead Jecht went on for an easy win showing his son how it is done. Phoenix Wright may not be the strongest character in the bracket, but this does put Jecht at just above the fodder line and any character above that is a good rally in my opinion.

Turd of the Division – Ezio Auditore da Firenze
After Altair’s performance earlier in the round a lot of hype for Ezio emerged. While most people didn’t think he had a chance against Zelda most people did think that he would at least have a decent performance on her. Ezio had other ideas and defeated Simon by only a bit more than Altair defeated Liquid Snake. Is Ezio the Raiden to Altair’s Snake or has Simon been SFF by Crono in his only two matches; personally I’m leaning towards to former.

Runner-up – Eddie Riggs
Brutal Legend has only been in one poll prior to this match which caused a lot a mystery as to Eddie Riggs’ true strength. I guess there was a reason for the lack of appearances of Brutal Legend. Letting Ratchet, one of the weakest characters that consistently makes the bracket double you is very embarrassing. Ratchet has suffered some of the worst defeats over the years and here he is destroying a character, I don’t think that I stand alone in that this should be Eddie’s only appearance.
