On a side note, Skies of Arcadia was 34th on VGChartz' top 100 list from last year (then again that list suggests Skies > CoD4 > Melee > HL2), and was 27th on Destructoid's top 50 of the decade list. Skies still has relevance!

Zack is the only person truly immune to the FFVII board vote.

That's not entirely true. Zack got lucky to face a fellow FF character in round 1 in Yuna, so he wouldn't have suffered badly anyway (although Auron got the board vote handily against Aerith). His is probably the least bad, but he's still suffered from it.

In round 1 last year, he gained 2.33% from the board vote to the end of the Power Hour. That's right. He lost the board vote to Wario.

Even Zack isn't completely immune to it. He lost ground on Yuna until around half an hour in I think, and then started gaining- meaning his first half hour was still worse than hers, but his first 5 mintues was better.

Assuming Sephiroth survives Missingno, we'll get a direct comparison on Vincent/Tifa, and thus we'll get to see Guybrush > Yuri in the stats barring Tifa outdoing Vincent or Yuri having a monster morning vote!

Guybrush is a monster! A two-foot monster that you could easily pick up and drop kick halfway across a football field, but still a monster!

The funny thing is that Zidane won the board vote in round 2 and Link lost it! Link gained nearly 2% from the board vote to the end of the Power Hour! Zack stayed about the same. He gained nearly 1% from the end of the board vote to the end of the Power Hour in round 3. He gained 2.16% from the board vote to the end of the Power Hour against Link, Mario, and MMX though.

And looking at how badly Mega Man rocked Cid with the board vote this round, I imagine Zack will probably get hit pretty hard, though not as hard. Mega Man's a board vote champ himself.

The 2006 stats are lawl because Tifa ends up as the #2 character overall, and the 2008 stats are unreliable. I'm not even sure what number I used to adjust Tifa there.

I'll be pretty damn surprised if Vinnie outdoes Tifa against Sephiroth. Tifa did waaaaay better against Seph in 4ways, and I'm guessing it'll translate over to this format as well.

But man, I hate even talking about potential match-ups in this division. I still think Missingno could easily throw a wrench into the whole contest.

Someone explain those trends to me. It screams Missingno stuffing to me, but I wasn't around. Missingno mysteriously Kefka-style "barriering" during what should've been Crono's best times is odd though.

Too bad Crono's got the most ineffective cheaters around (unless he's facing a FF7 character). He's been outcheated by everybody from Mario to Missingno. Crono cheaters should take classes from Frog cheaters or something ^_^

Direct comparisons in SFF matches are worthless. I wouldn't be surprised if Tifa vastly outperforms Vincent there, even if she's weaker.

I've always said that Tifa has a good chance at being stronger than Vincent though. 2k8 she was stuck with Sephiroth, 2k7 she didn't get the nominations, 2k6 was the crazy female bracket. 2k5 was the only decent read and it was still messed up by Advent Children released in between her match with Sonic and Vincent's match with Crono. And she was still quite close in the X-stats.

In night or 24-hour matches, FFVII (or at least Cloud and Sephiroth) generally rise about 4% from the freeze to the end of the power hour, and another 4% from the end of the power hour to the end. I know Tifa isn't Cloud and Sephiroth and it's probably harder to gain percentage when you're already so high up, but she's been gaining at a pretty good rate so far (as good as Sephiroth's.......remember how Marth stalled his gains for half an hour).

I share your doubt, Leon. Crono was making what seemed to be a very steady (and thus more believably legit) comeback, and then Missingno turned it around and put the match away immediately.

I think Vincent will hold up better against Sephiroth than he did in 2007. Sephiroth always holds up well against Cloud 1v1 but gets creamed in four-ways with him.

When there's two other options to vote for, people would rather focus on one character to ensure they win over the two opponents. I do think Vincent will outperform Tifa on Sephiroth.

This is pretty much what I was saying though - Crono's cheaters suck. They're not effective and their cheating is easily caught. That's their history.

It's pretty clear Missingno would have more cheaters - everyone knew before that match that if anyone was going to get stuffing, it was Missingno.

I did an analysis earlier today on that by comparing the votals in each hour of Crono/Missingno and MMX/Price, and got a conservative estimate of around 2700 votes (rallied or stuffed, who knows) in Crono/Missingno. I'll repost it here.

Overall ratio = 91081/81068 = 1.1235

Missingno did far better in the hours in which the ratio was high. If we take 1.09 as a natural baseline (there was one hour below it at 1.04, and the rallying probably never completely stopped, so 1.09 may be too high, but it works as a conservative guess), we received about 2700 extra votes yesterday externally from rallying. Using that 1.04 hour as the baseline (that is, presuming the rallies stopped that hour) gives us a higher estimate of around 6000 votes.

The bulk of it was in the last 2 hours though- about 1700 from those 2 hours alone. Here's a graph with the projected rallied votes per hour using 1.09 as a baseline:

I agree. That was nightmare match for Vincent, he was a complete after-thought.

He'll get SFFed hard by Sephiroth, but should do much better than in that match, which was his version of hell.

My guess is that Vincent gets SFFed harder than Tifa due to similarity, but, I wouldn't be entirely confident about it. Who knows with SFF matches like this.
