I sure hope Missingno pulls an L here and weakens considerably
for the next contest. The idea of a joke character remaining at
Squall/Vincent levels or higher fills me with a horrible sense of
dread... --- Placeholder anti-capslock sig. |

I
think we have to rethink our old belief about L-Block's static
percentage. Maybe there was never a static 28%, it's just that
L-Block's bandwagon grew every round and it just happened to land him
around that 28%. --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

It's hard for me to see Missingno changing much at all. L is pretty close to his 2007 R1 strength nowadays. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

L is pretty far above his 2007 round 1 strength. Beating Ryu >>> 41% on Kirby. --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |
The n00b Avenger | Posted 2/14/2010 10:14:20 PM | message detail |
L-Block didn't really weaken he just went back to his pre-bandwagon status. And this is presumably pre-bandwagon status for Missingno already >_> Well people will get sick of it... eventually --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |

As far as the whole favorite character discussion is concerned... One of my favorites got blown out by Snake in 2006 (damn female bracket). Another is liable to get crushed by Tifa. Another tore Frog's lead apart in all of 5 hours, but lost in the end. One lost to The Boss. One got 70-30'd by another of my favorites. --- "Here I go! Divine judgment for an evil soul! 64%, and yeah, still much better than 2007 R1. On the subject of legitimacy: supposing Crono is Missingno's base-line, pre-bandwagon strength, would it really be so illegitimate for him to win the contest? If Crono had gone on to beat Sephiroth from some miracle comination of the night vote, sprite round, anti-votes, and CTDS, and gone on to build up a massive bandwagon culminating in victory, would that have been illegitimate? If not, why would Missingno winning the contest be so bad? --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

Psh, you guys got nothing on me. My overall favorite character failed to make a 128 character bracket 3 years running, despite having a decent amount on board support. My second favorite nearly lost to Sam Fisher and Kain Highwind, then bombed in a vote-in poll this year. My third and fourth favorites would give Tanner a run for his money. And then there's Dante, so I guess he does alright. --- If you're seeing this sig, I'm not on my computer! |

think the ghost pic would be a nice choice for Round 2, while one of

So,
let's say Missingno drops in R2 like how Sandbag dropped from R1 to R2
against Sonic. What kind of chance does that give Yoshi? --- T E A M C H O C O L A T E http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7355/64590879.png |

http://img.imgcake.com/Missingnopngse.png Made that before the contest even started for whatever reason. I think it'd be a good round 2 pic, no? It's like he's slowly infecting the pic. Round 3 he'll seep over to the other character if we can pull that off. --- (|| ' ' ||) Visio Vestri - Character Battle VIII Fanfiction Project . /|_|\ http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=53091233 |
KamikazePotato | Posted 2/14/2010 11:03:00 PM | message detail |
That
analogy doesn't make any sense. Sandbag dropped because him vs. Magus
was the main event, while in the next round Sonic vs. Auron was the
main event. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |
HaRRicH | Posted 2/14/2010 11:23:36 PM | message detail |
Alternatively,
we could say Starcraft performed much better against Halo, LoZ:WW, and
SSBM than KH because those other matches had main-event status. That
allowed KH to get ~46%, and we can agree Soul Calibur had little
business being near Halo/LoZ:WW/SSBM (especially nowadays considering
BGE2). Crono/Missingno had that status, and Seph/Missingno could...but
Yoshi/Missingno hardly does now that we saw Crono lose. Sandbag's one
major match was against Magus, and after that it hardly mattered.
Sonic/Auron-debate was just icing on the cake. Just a new perspective. --- T E A M C H O C O L A T E http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7355/64590879.png |
HaRRicH | Posted 2/14/2010 11:26:37 PM | message detail |
Plus
they're both Nintendo-jokes from huge games and with decent
bracket-support to win the whole contest against CT-characters that
resulted in close matches. It's not completely without similarity. --- T E A M C H O C O L A T E http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7355/64590879.png |

Why are we not discussing Big Daddy's crushing of Soap more in this topic. Because this match is ho-hum. Yeah,
and it probably has no bearing on the next round. Big Daddy would need
a really big boost from 08 to beat Ness. In 07, Ness got 48% on Alucard
and Liquid Snake, while Big Daddy lost to Balthier Bunansa in 08. --- -Heals severely dry skin -18 hour moisturization -Fragrance free -With Vitamin E |
