The next match immediately afterward had like 25% more votes than usual. Are you implying that the 'cheaters' stuck around to cheat in a completely different match, or maybe it's more logical to just assume that the extra votes came from... you know... more people being at the site at the time?

Close matches always have more people around at the beginning of the next one, because there's more people on paying attention to the match. Why would ralliers stick around either?

I always love when people play the cheating card. You don't need a large scale rally by a single site when you have many smaller rallies that can't really be traced.

There's actually a marked difference between this and Crono and Snake's last hour rallies in the past. I haven't checked (don't want to spend that much time doing calculations) but I'm pretty certain Crono and Snake's matches never got beyond 200 extra votes in the last hour, 300 at most. Frog/Axel probably didn't get much beyond 300, if that, either.

In magnitude, this is on par with Starcraft, and possibly higher given that the 1.09 baseline was conservative and rallying was going on all day on Twitter and stuff. If you use the hour with the lowest ratio as baseline, the estimated rallied votes jumps up to around 6000, which would be above everything except Mario/Crono 2, Mario/Cloud, and the 2007 Final. Of course it's not possible to do this sort of trend-based analysis for the 2007 final because it's not really possible to define a baseline there or to separate extra early voting from rallied voting at the start of it, but looking at other finals and the matches around it there were probably around 30,000-40,000 outside votes in that one. This match was obviously much less hyped and big than that, but that shows it is possible to generate thousands of outside votes across the internet, not really from one source.

So there were 200 small scale rallies for Missingno? I find that hard to believe. People said the same thing about Starcraft doubters, but when the pressure got too high it went and revealed its true colors. People said during Vercetti Vs. Kefka that *Vercetti* was the one making the suspicious moves.

The next match immediately afterward had like 25% more votes than usual.

It got about 500 votes above normal in the first update, and then calmed down very very quickly. And a lot of that 500 could have been from people who had voted in Crono/Missingno way earlier in the day and were watching the end anyway.

Gamefaqs has some of the best stuffing protection out t here. I'm pretty sure if there was stuffing, he'd catch it.

Starcraft didn't cheat until its match against Melee and since you brought up Vercetti/Kefka, how do you know it wasn't Crono that was stuffing?

So Kingdom Hearts just failed to get its ASV against Starcraft then? I have no proof that Crono wasn't stuffing, but there's not really much to indicate that he was, at least not more so than Missingno.

The fact that Crono "had more than double the attempted vote stuffs than Missingno." suggests Crono probably did cheat more than Missingno.

The proof that Missingno got more outside votes than Crono can be seen in that Missingno did better in the hours in which the match votals were above trend.

Might as well throw this out there as it seems to be a topic of debate on the board:

Does Missingno keep his strength next year? We've already seen L-Block freefall since his peak 2k7 strength. However, this was Missingno's first match - and one that wasn't really that hyped - and he's already at a strength that takes L-block rounds of rallying to get at.

Personally, I think Missingno is legitimate, but I could see arguments against that.

What does KH not getting an ASV have to do with cheating? Heck the game barely won it over Soul Calibur. What proof do you have that Missingno was stuffing. Also Crono was erratic at times so I don't see why you should blame one and not the other.

Missingno should keep this strength next year. Even if he was stuffing (and rallying is believable) he would still have been quite close to Crono normally. If Missingno goes on to win the contest, he'll probably fall below his Link-slaying strength but still end up well above his original strength like L-Block did.

Maybe 10% of Crono's strength actually comes from cheating in every match. He lost to Sonic and started dropping because the cheating restrictions got more strict around that time!

Whether or not it's legitimate is all going to come down to the Sephiroth match.

If he loses he's legit, he'll be challenging the Cronos and the Vincents of the contest next year. If he wins the contest he'll fall I think.

It doesn't mean much that there were more failed stuffing attempts for Crono than Missingno, because that obviously doesn't measure successful stuffing attempts. It only takes one person to stuff a few thousand votes.

Right, but the fact that there were more failed stuffing attempts for Crono than Missingno still doesn't mean anything. It could mean more people unsuccessfuly tried to cheat for Crono, or unsuccessful cheaters for Crono tried to stuff more votes- it tells us nothing about successful stuffers, if they exist. And it only takes 1 person to do it.

Obviously they were foiled attempts if Bacon knew about them. On the other hand, if they were successful, Bacon wouldn't know about them. It depends on how much you trust Gamefaqs' ability to stop stuffing, which is pretty good but not perfect.

The evidence from the data we have is that Missingno got a couple thousand extra votes from somewhere......probably rallying as I've been saying, but we'll never know for sure.
