This
has to be a wait and see, especially for Altair. Altair's gap between
floor and ceiling is big, dependent on how much the MGS4 boost has worn
out. Pre-MGS4 Liquid got only 35% on Yuna. I'm leaning towards MGS
being closer to pre MGS4 than post, but who knows? With Ezio, I don't
think he has any real chance at Zelda. Castlevania and Chrono Trigger
SFF I think is really reaching. That's reaching the point where you
would have to say that almost any games on the same system have SFF
between them . Different genres. --- -Heals severely dry skin -18 hour moisturization -Fragrance free -With Vitamin E |

Yeah,
CT/Castlevania SFF is desperate, as you'd expect from me after seeing
CT lose to SM64 in round 2. Although, given that CT actually did better
in round 3 when you replaced SOTN and Yoshi's Island with FFVII and
Goldeneye, it might just be true in spite of that, maybe. --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

Simon appear in a lot of Castlavania games? This poll makes it pretty

bonus). --- Mustache...and Green... |

They
all beat CVIII in the favorite Castlevania poll, for what it's worth.
Now that I look at it again, SOTN's the only game there on a Sony
system, and the only game not on a Nintendo system other than
Bloodlines which got 1.5%, so maybe it's not quite as dominant over
other Castlevania games as it looks at first in that poll. --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

I
don't think that Simon is stronger than Alucard -- quite the contrary.
I do believe it's possible he's strong enough to give Ezio a chance at
Zelda though. Alucard is probably stronger than Vivi at this point (for sure in my opinion). But Simon and Alucard are probably pretty similar in strength (seeing as Simon has been in multiple CV games and his games are the other most popular ones, plus the original...) Now I would think that Alucard is more popular and has a more dedicated fanbase, but I think that Simon could be around Liquid's strength -- much stronger than Travis. It's really hard to gauge because he's always been up against Crono. Maybe you're right and there's no SFF -- but he's still being held down by one of the strongest characters in the contest. --- Curt - PSN - CPhoenixM I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul. |

RPGuy96 | Posted 2/13/2010 7:26:18 PM | message detail |
I'm
actually kinda confused by that poll - it is my understanding that
CVIII is by far and away the best liked Classicvania (and CVII is all
sorts of awful). I vastly prefer Rondo of Blood, but that wasn't an
option for most people until recently. And Symphony likely is as dominant as it appears. It's true that that poll is littered with Classicvania on Nintendo...but look at the three other Metroidvania options - Aria, Circle, and Harmony - and how badly it's killing those. White Night Concerto is the Japanese name for Harmony so I'm not even sure what it's doing there. <_< --- Mustache...and Green... |
XxSoulxX | Posted 2/13/2010 7:27:30 PM | message detail |
I
can see the argument that Simon is stronger then what we're giving him
credit for because of Crono. But the thing is, you're pretty much
underestimating Zelda here. This isn't so much about Ezio being weak as
it is Zelda being near elite. Ezio would have had to have put up
monster like numbers against Simon in order to compete with Zelda. Even
Charizard, who I would easily put over every Castlevania character
would get crushed by Zelda. I'm picturing Ezio putting up a decent performance, but I don't think Zelda will score lower than 60%. --- Good Times, Great Memories |
EternalxCourage | Posted 2/13/2010 7:30:12 PM | message detail |
Personally
I think that Ezio will probably score around 45%. That's where I think
that his upward limits are talking seriously. I want him to win, and I
think he has a shot, but I think realistically he'll end somewhere
between 42 - 45. I'd be pretty disappointed if he did get blasted by
60% or more...but it could happen too. I guess we'll just have to wait
and see. --- Curt - PSN - CPhoenixM I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul. |

You
have to remember that Auron put up 65% on Alucard once upon a time, and
I doubt that number has changed too significantly since then. Even in
the very, very, very remote possibility that Simon Belmont is the same
strength as Alucard, that'd look pretty good for Ezio, but I still
don't think it'd be enough to beat Zelda. He'd get pretty close though.
But really, how much could Crono have SFF'd Simon Belmont anyway? Even with Mega Man pulling some same-console-SFF (if that's what it is), he was only able to get 68%, as opposed to the 75% Crono got on him twice. That'd have to be some pretty hefty SFF for two characters who have a tenuous relationship at best. --- "But you have been given freedom. Freedom to be...outside." And
heck, even same-game-SFF isn't that severe. Crono couldn't even triple
Magus in 2004 (and you'd have to argue that Belmont is around the same
strength as Magus if you want Belmont to be in Alucard's range), so it
strikes me as odd that he could hit Simon even harder than that. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |

I'm not what you mean about Megaman getting 68%, Leon- I'm not sure who you mean he got 68% on. And I think the idea of Ezio getting close to Zelda requires that Zelda is no longer as strong as she was in 2005-6. She got 44% on Vincent in 2007, so she probably isn't, but probably not weak enough to lose here either. I'd guess she'll get somewhere from 55-60%. --- 6 years later, Crono's quest to defeat Sephiroth -- Round 1: Missingno 'Till shade is gone, 'till water is gone, into the shadow with teeth bared.... |

Match LIX: (5) Yoshi vs. (12) Jak Information Name: Yoshi Game/Series: Super Mario Bros. Previous Contest: 2008 Performance: 3rd in round 2 Name: Jak Game/Series: Jak and Daxter Previous Contest: 2007 Performance: 4th in round 1 Analysis This match is easily one of the favourites to win the match nobody remembers award. I’ve read several times of people forgetting that this match is occurring and I don’t really blame them. It’s late into the round, the winner is obvious and deserving of that win and his opponent is not turbo fodder worth discussing. The round is almost over, but we still have boring matches aplenty. Yoshi may have not performed up to expectations in the previous round, but Jak is such a weak opponent it doesn’t matter. I do think that some people may have overrated the scenario. 42% on Squall is still pretty decent and isn’t really that far to what he was suppose to get, Yoshi was just unlucky when Fox decided to hold up against him rather than get SFF in the second round. Yoshi won’t be defeating any near elites, but that won’t matter for this contest. Jak has been fading over the years, though he did just win the Playstation 2 GotY award. The guy was never strong to begin with, but Yoshi is in line for quite the crushing. Zero was able to double the guy so I expect Yoshi to have a similar performance here. Interesting fact Jak received the least nominations before the vote-in with a tie of 196 nominations. charmander6000’s Bracket: Yoshi > Jak charmander6000’s Prediction: Yoshi wins, 68.25% - 31.75% --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB8%20BOP.xls Character Battle VIII - 46/56 - Today's Winners: Sephiroth and Vincent |
