Man, Wander would beat Guybrush.

I would take Guybrush in that match (or rather the higher seed).

Guybrush isn't even turbo fodder, he's like mid fodder. there must be seven characters this year who are weaker.

Yes he is, at best he's low fodder.

lol, Vincent is doing bad on Guybrush over there. I'm pretty sure that Vincent would have lost the FFVII total domination zone to Guybrush if this was a night match.

And Vincent is above 80% in the US and Canada.

Guybrush is turbo fodder. He got tripled by Altair last year, and nearly got tripled by Duke, Gordon, and Ike in 2007. Guybrush is just fortunate that this is anti-blowoutFAQs now.

Chris only got 68% on MacMillan, by the way. Not quite a tripling.

Man, Wander would beat Guybrush.

Wander has beaten Guybush on Gamespot, actually.

Still don't get the whining. He's liked enough to keep making 128-character brackets, and it's not as if 75% of our newcomers each year would threaten even Guybrush. Have you forgotten some of the incredibly weak-ass characters we've seen? Would you rather have Axel Steel and Nathan Hale back?

If it weren't for how rare blowouts have been this contest, this wouldn't even be considered a good performance for Vincent. Remember Bowser got 83% or something against Guybrush back in 2004.

Tripled by vincent isn't that bad.

It'll be close to quadrupled by Vincent despite the benefit of anti-FF7 votes artificially boosting Guybrush's strength. Guybrush is horribly weak fodder. A lot of the characters you listed could beat or at least put up a fight against Guybrush.

There are at least 128 characters (I'm being nice here, it's probably closer to 500 or even more) that would beat Guybrush. When you're at that level of terrible, it's time to just call it a day. No one has ever cared about him and now it's been proven even making his games available again doesn't change that.

I'm just saying that he's pretty popular in Europe, as is all the Lucas Arts adventure games from the mid 90s. Tim Schafer has a large following there. So as long as Europe exists and we have 128 characters, he's a contest staple. Can't really do anything to change that.

Sextupled is the right word. I rarely see people use words above "quadruple" in discussing the contests. After "quadruple", the next several words above that are "quintuple", "sextuple", "septuple", and "octuple".

Guybrush is the worst sort of fodder really. He's right above ultra fodder. Ultra fodder is at least funny, and they normally never return again. Guybrush however returns year after year, being terrible, robbing actual characters of strength from having decent seeds and generally boring everyone but a small collection of fanboys on this board to death.

Yeah, but Shadow of the Colossus at least proved to be a game people were familiar with and liked outside of Europe in the Games Contest. I just don't think Guybrush is well known enough. He's plenty liked by people who know him, but I'm convinced Wander would beat him. I really don't think Ryo Hazuki indirectly was worth 70%+ on him, but when you put the two of them together, Ryo's gonna crush him because people at least know who he is.

Didn't you just repeat yourself there? Doesn't make your statement true.

You're the one that made the statement. The burden of proof lies on you. That's how arguments work.

Here's proof anyway. Out of all our newcomers, it is reasonable to say Guybrush would be beaten by:
Red
Captain John Prince
Lightning
Claptrap
Prinny
Cid Highwind
Charizard
Jecht
Ezio
Vault Boy
Darth Revan
Missingno (probably)
Soap McTavish (probably)
Yuri (probably)

Guybrush would probably beat:
Eddie Riggs

Guybrush would have a close match with:
Sandal
Fawful
Ellis

Even if you assume Guybrush beats all of the people he has a close match with that's far from 75%.

Guybrush IS weak, but like I said, 128 is too many: there's always going to be "wasted" spots and while newcomers at least have "unknown" values, they're not as fun as Guybrush so I reserve my right to vote for him and nominate him, because he's awesome, and better than the JRPG NPC (for example) that would take his place.

I don't think it really works like that. People who don't know or don't care about either character can and do abstain from voting. Those who vote anyway probably vote based on the picture or the name or something- if there aren't any major advantages one character has over the other here, that will come out to around 50/50. Guybrush can and would get votes from people who do not know who he is if put up against sufficiently weak fodder.

Bowser didn't even sextuple him in that match. He couldn't even reach the quintupling either. A quintupling requires a minimum of at least 83.33%.
