The winner of these four consecutive matches are all final fantasy characters. Granted Terra was the only debated match, but its still pretty impressive. Now to see Vincent get the blowout of the round!

I'm kinda interested to see how Marth does. This will potentially be his first clear reading in a contest setting (A first round match with Duke, Kefka, and Niko doesn't seem too "clear" to me, especially since all three of those guys have massively over-or-underperformed expectations), assuming Sephiroth doesn't bust out the Bishie SFF.

I remember a while back you posted one of those where Marth referenced something in Path of Radience or something and someone went "Wow! Was that line really in the original game?"

It's stuck with me since as a reminder to always double-check what I'm about to post.

Analysis

Welcome to the final division of the contest, also known as the division of wasted potential. While every character except for a select few is essentially fed to Sephiroth at least have them perform in a debatable match beforehand. Even Marth doesn’t deserve to be regulated to first round fodder, not when there are more deserving characters even in the vote-in.

While I don’t quite see the reason for hype for Sephiroth/Snake some people do and I have a feeling that Sephiroth will underperform in this match which will cause people to continue to hype for the upset. None of the traditional heavy hitters have been getting the desirable blowouts, mostly because of their seed and thus being forced to go up against a winner of the vote-in whom all have shown that they have at least some strength.

Marth isn’t some weak character. In the previous two contests he has shown strength of a low mid-card. Before the contest I thought Marth had a chance at breaking 25%, but after Cloud’s match I would be surprised if he failed to do that. While I do believe that Sephiroth does get his fair share of anti-votes I don’t think the guy is as hated as Cloud since he isn’t the face of Final Fantasy VII.

Like most people I am quite excited to see the board vote of this match. Cloud only had 63.5% against Ridley at the freeze and while it would be amazing to see Marth start off with over 40% I don’t think the guy would be able to hold on for that long. If he does I could only imagine how much Solid Snake is winning by once their match starts.

I still think Seph's gonna kick Marth's ass here, but this is literally the only chance he has to look bad I think before the quarters. Vincent, Crono, AND Tifa before hitting Snake? Cloud's gonna probably look weaker than him to a few deluded souls.
