If Kefka impresses at all against Bowser in a day match, I'll give some kind of credit to a Dissidia/old FF-style boost. I really don't think it's the picture, Kefka looked... pretty much the same to me as he always has against Arthas. I couldn't really differentiate between that and, say, his clown FMV shot.

You have to completely fill out a bracket in order for it to be submitted right?

Bacon said that as long as you chose a final winner, it was considered "submitted," though you won't get any points for matches you get right.

I'm willing to grant it's the best non-sprite picture he's ever received for the sake of argument. But enough to comfortably 60-40 a character he was supposed to lose to without so much as a fight? No, this wasn't some Big Boss -> Naked Snake transformation here. Something else is going on.

i think it's the fact that this is the first time these characters received 3d models and voice acting. that's bound to make the fanbase more excited about its older characters

It's not the first time a good Kefka performance coincided with a good picture. Maybe Kefka really is heavily picture dependant.

I'm not making any bones about the Angel Kefka performance. That's gone on to look only more and more impressive as the years have passed(Wesker nearly beating Lloyd shortly afterward and Lara later on, for example).

The only problem with Locke is that ALL he has is Amano art. For whatever the reason, Locke doesn't have an FMV pic that shows his face.

I'll agree with that. To be honest, I don't really like the second picture of Kefka. Unlike Kefka's other pictures, it does look like what Kefka looks like in game and perhaps that's what really mattered.

Eh, I disagree. I'm not speaking from the perspective of someone who's played KOTOR, but I was worried from the beginning that Revan could bomb and lose this match. Picking Revan was more of a Not-Terra pick for me than anything else, so I thought he'd at least be strong enough to beat her, but I certainly wasn't feeling as confident about this one as a lot of people were.

I knew Revan had a chance of bombing, but I really thought he'd pull through. This match is probably the final nail in my bracket's coffin, honestly.

It's just too bad this isn't going to be close. I was hoping for another Ken/Wesker scenario.

It'll probably help Mega Man a little, but it shouldn't leave a significant impact. Not that it matters too much, anyway - both Mega Man and Zero have looked pretty solid so far.

Terra's never had real good bracket support like Kefka - only 56% against Kerrigan and Zelda had 92% out of her fourpack. Dante had 88%, too. I think Revan will be the bracket favorite but I'm not sure.

let's face it, the gold lightsaber is pretty much the most neutral color they could have picked...after all, his name is DARTH Revan, they could have at least given him a red one

We can be awful convincing! Anyway, terrible result here. I'm sure Terra is a good character (I usually like female leads), but Revan is, in my opinion, the Western character. Seeing him lose to the millionth strongest Japanese character is just very sad. Not going to get hung up about it, though. I've missed 5, and I would have never changed 4 of them in a million years. I still regret Sackboy because I had him in my bracket and wrestled with that match the whole time.

COMPLETE GEAR SHIFT

I know we can mail Bacon our contest questions (no clue how), so has anybody taken it upon themselves to ask him if Sheik would even be eligible for these contests? I think we can all agree that Sheik wouldn't be another Revan and would, at the very least, be a VERY interesting entrant to see.

And no, I didn't think he'd be STRONGER than Chief (he's our Western king, right?), but I figured he'd just be the creme de la creme of all Western characters. The best, the most beloved. Kinda like our Solid Snake.

Anyway, today's match rocks. I love Terra, so losing a point to finally see her do well (and with RPGuy's amazing pic) is awesome. On a different note, does anyone know where the trend graphs for Link/Cloud 2003 and Mario/Crono 2003 are? I know they exist, but I can't see them on gfcontests.

And Terra's rocking Revan pretty hard right now. Revan did manage to take the lead over Terra in the UK, but apparently she's killing him everywhere else because she's winning in Europe with 57%. She's got 52% in America now, too, so she went up a percent overnight.
