Pit and Dedede were definitely hurting Zero more.

Of course, Pit and Dedede prevented Zero from reaching his previous performance.

And Zero looked fine in 2007, yeah, but the way that Mega Man completely wasted him in 2008 was kinda disconcerting, especially after their 2004 match. Maybe everyone was just abandoning Zero for the sake of getting Mega Man through (Heck, we've seen Sephiroth look bad in 4-ways with Cloud, so who knows), but 2008 was just a bad year for Zero.

I never said Zero would hit 63% on Hayabusa again (especially since he was stronger in the 4ways than he was in 2005), but he wouldn't lose to him 1v1.

How many here take Hayabusa over Zero 1v1?

"Pit and Dedede hurt Zero."

...Why?

http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery/albums/cb7/cb7-19.jpg

I mean, we're going to argue that these two losers kept Zero from winning that match? Hayabusa doesn't even look THAT great in this pic.

I know, but it seems like were arguing over whether Zero gets 52% or 49% on Hayabusa, looking at the bigger picture, it doesn't matter.

actually with that in mind, Vincent and Tifa got creamed by seph in 1 vs 1 badly, like Seph and Zero got smacked around by cloud and MM in 4 wyas in spite of previous matches hinting at rSFF, now Seph's ghonna face the both of them, do you think they'll hold up much better in a 1 vs 1 scenario?

I wouldn't take Hayabusa over Zero in this format, after how he didn't look too great against Crash. Zero seems to be bringing his A-game to this match.

I'm somewhat of the opinion that Hayabusa is a 4-way wonder, for whatever the reason. I don't really think he could replicate his performances 1-on-1 as well as he did in 4-ways. After all, he only got 35% on Dante in 2006 before beating Riku + Roxas combined in 2007.

But yet I still picked Hayabusa > Chief, so whatever. That's a lack of faith in Chief than anything else.

We'll probably see something similar to Tifa round 1 rather than Tifa round 2.

Pit and Dedede were definitely hurting Zero more.

Why do we bring this up continually like it even matters? This is the lamest excuse I've ever heard for any match ever.

Except it's true. The Mega Man series(es) is undoubtedly considered Nintendo on this site, right down to its voting trends. Didn't Zero go from getting blown out by Ryu with two other Nintendo characters in the poll to helping Ryu gets last place? Zero might as well be a Nintendo character.

And matches like Link/Mega Man, Mario/Zero, Mega Man/Yoshi and Link/Zero/Corno/Vincent certainly support that. The only case where it doesn't seem to apply is Mega Man/Samus 2007, but that can be blamed on massive sprite round advantage for Mega Man compensating for the SFF.

Well, that and the fact that Samus couldn't SFF her way out of a paper bag.

I think the Auron Zero match will be epic. Especially with Zero doing so well here. I certainly think it will be closer than 2007 xstats predicts:

Auron (2007c) has a strength of 34.73 against Base Link.
Zero (2007c) has a strength of 33.32 against Base Link.

Auron 52.03% 74,103
Zero 47.97% 68,321
TOTAL VOTES 142,424
Auron wins with 52.03% of the vote!

Chart from the night match:

Time | Auron | Aerith | Votes
0:05 | 60.11% | 39.89% | 1256
1:00 | 58.63% | 41.37% | 9384
2:00 | 58.59% | 41.41% | 5894
3:00 | 55.08% | 44.92% | 4283
4:00 | 56.37% | 43.63% | 3232
5:00 | 55.75% | 44.14% | 2626
6:00 | 54.43% | 45.57% | 2348
7:00 | 56.07% | 43.93% | 2893
8:00 | 58.13% | 41.87% | 3549
9:00 | 57.95% | 42.05% | 4164
10:00 | 58.06% | 41.94% | 4318
11:00 | 58.52% | 41.48% | 4489
12:00 | 59.49% | 40.51% | 4451

Huh, this match was trendier than I expected! Aerith does her best work in the "dead" hours, and Auron dominates the morning vote, capping off the match with nearly a 60% hour. Back in 2005, the difference between Squall and Vincent was the day vote. FFVII clearly doesn't have that advantage anymore.

Just for the record, 2008 stats project exactly 71/29 for Auron/Fenix, and it's 68/32 right now. If it holds right there (and it almost certainly won't due to the ASV), Auron wins with 54.69%.

I'm getting a Vincent/Kerrigan vibe from Revan/Terra

There's obviously no chance this even approaches Vincent/Kerrigan levels. However my own feeling is that Revan could 60/40 Terra - I think there's a very good chance this is a blowout. Terra is pretty damn weak, HK-47 would beat her, and I find it hard to imagine Revan being weaker than HK-47.

A big Dissidia boost is really Terra's main hope I think. And it is conceivable.

For those that have played KOTOR - what are the chances that Revan could actually be weaker than HK-47?

Zero should have no trouble breaking 45%. And with how crappy Auron looked against Aeris, the upset possibility is definitely there, though not too likely. The real test will be to see how Auron does on Squall and then how Squall does on Snake (is Squall/Snake the new Snake/Knuckles?)
