Well if Raven wins and since Kratos will lose from Charizard I should abandon all hope.Oh well maybe next year.I was for a while in leaderboard though so that is okay.In the previous contest of characters I was on the leaderboard at the end,now I was at the beginning.Maybe in the next one I will be on the middle?

Being significantly stronger than HK-47 is not exactly a high calling, here. HK-47 is encountered midway through the game at the earliest (and the player has already had several helpings of Revan hype before then), isn't particularly useful in battle, and it's entirely possible to actually beat the game without ever seeing him or acquiring him in your party. There's no other character you can literally miss in KOTOR (Juhani maybe *sort* of, but you at least get to see her).

HK gets in because he's a big fan-favorite and beloved for his endearing lines, but you have to have invested pretty heavily in the game for that appeal to really resonate. Anyone who's played that much is going to have Revan resonate that much or more, and the disparity in casual design easily goes without saying.

Any humanoid character in Link's clothes with his sword would probably be mistaken for Link by many, so yeah they probably would boost.

Yeah, I doubt he'd stay a high seed... I just bring up the high seed due to that meaning a lot of people nommed him, so even if only half the people nom him next time, he'd still likely get in.

Zack did fine in his matches where no Buster Sword was visible in his picture.

Plus, being one of the better characters in the series kinda helps!

I wasn't aware that's the case with Revan, but I dunno. It seems strange that HK-47 has gotten in all these years and Revan had to have some significant board support and a vote-in poll just to make the contest. Not that this has ever really mattered with strength before, but it makes you wonder, especially with something like KOTOR.

Ellis might luck out. Pikaface should do well against Snake in the sprite round, and Snake can still give Sephiroth (and Cloud) hell. Actually, Ellis might be worse off if Shep beats Pikachu, because there's no way Shep avoids Snakebliteration.

KotOR Spoilers

Karma's arguments for Revan do resonate with me, but maybe that's partly because I'm a fanboy. It's true that HK is a big fan favorite due to his hilarious dialogue, but he is in comparatively little of the game (when compared to Revan), and he blows in battle. With his look, his name, and the magnitude of the spoiler (not to mention how badass Revan is outside of it), I can easily see Revan being stronger.

And the Revan spoiler is pretty much equivalent to the Aeris spoiler in significance and shock value. It is the defining moment of KotOR, and also one of the most badass moments.

Sadly, it's probably also one of the most spoiled spoilers at this point. I know I had the surprise ruined for me before I experienced it for myself.

I prefer HK by a longshot, but I tend to like side characters more than the main, especially silent mains.

I have fairly high hopes for Terra either way. The last time we saw all three major old Square characters in a contest, the order was Kefka > Terra > Cecil and Terra and Cecil were not close (thanks to Snake/Bowser overrating Cecil). Given what the other two have done I'm rather optimistic about Terra.

Analysis

This match has got some reasonable hype, not because the winner is in doubt, but because how much of a win Auron gets. There are also some people trying to make an interesting match out of anything in hopes to end this drought. It’s quite interesting how one sided this match is when during the early days everyone would have shifted to the other side.

After years of being called Aeris Aerith finally got a name change, but will it cause a change in performance? Anything to do with Final Fantasy VII in recent times she has been referred to as Aerith, even in Kingdom Hearts, but does changing the last letter of her name really affect the voters or will she have the same strength. I don’t believe that the name change will affect her strength that much. A lot of people on this site have played the original Final Fantasy VII.

This match is really just a stepping stone to the hyped Squall/Auron match in round 3. In 2007 Squall was able to get 58% and 63% on “Aeris” in rounds 1 and 2 respectively meaning that is the range Auron should be striving for. I don’t see the guy having any more SFF power than Squall; though don’t sound the alarm bells if he ended up performing worse than he did against Aerith.

A lot of people gave Aerith a lot of flak for not performing to her 2003 expectations back in 2006 and 2007, but they have to realize that the site has changed since then and Aerith is still a strong character. It’s a shame that both Cid and she got the two strongest 3 seeds as opponents; they could have been upset specials if placed in a different position.

Link/Alucard, Sonic/Knuckles, Vivi/Altair, MM/Zack, Mario/BB, Ryu.H/MC, Charizard/Kratos, Ryu/Dante, Crono/Yoshi should all be interesting.

Non-GameFAQs related.. but this **** going down in Ontario colleges is hilarious. The teachers had a vote on whether to strike or not, and NOT STRIKING won by a margin of 210 votes (51.25%). So there will be no strike, right? Crisis averted?

Except there's still 300 or so votes left from teachers who mailed their ballot in. So the teachers said they needed 10 days to count up those ballots officially.

So everyone is freaking out on facebook about it... I feel like the only sane person there who understands swinging from 48.75% to 85.3% (which would give a 256-44 margin.. or a 212 vote swing for an overall win in favour of a strike) in the mail in ballots is pretty much statistically impossible.

Even Frog couldn't pull that off...

Pikachu/Shepard should be interesting too, if only so that we get a good read on ME2-boosted Shepard.

Shepard did get last place in one of the closest matches of 2008, so he's probably a tad stronger there than expected. Plus he was certainly leagues stronger than Drake, so if ME2 is much bigger than ME1 was here, Shepard could be a decent force in future contests.

At any rate, uber-fodder or not, getting a tripling in this contest is still impressive, especially considering only Nintendo characters, Big Boss, and WCC have pulled it off so far. It's great when a character you love pulls an impressive performance.

Yeah, Link's only going to underrate his half of the bracket. The only way the other half will get SFFed is if Cloud and Sephiroth have deboosted and Samus somehow upsets Cloud.

Granted, that would be awesome for so many reasons, but it's not happening. At the very least, Cloud and Samus will look strong, and if Sephiroth can withstand SFF from Cloud, so will he, Snake, Squall, and Auron.

Alucard has no chance at the Top 10. Maybe Top 25 if he has a really impressive performance.
