Tales of Vesperia actually did pretty well for itself. It came during a time when the 360 was starved for RPGs, kind of like Symphonia with the Gamecube. It didn't sell as much as Symphonia or get quite as much press, but yeah. Everyone loves Yuri.

So essentially you're telling me that Yuri is a cross between the other lame-ass turbofodder Tales characters we've already seen, and Kaim Argonar?

Wow, I feel a lot better about Revan's chances after that match pic. The one huge advantage he has is his design, which has helped characters like Altair and Hayabusa, so hopefully he can show similar strength here.

Did You Know That....
- People like to often make fun of those claiming that Halo could have pulled out a 5,000 vote comeback against Castlevania during the Series Contest. However, if you normalize the votals in both matches, the vote shift that it would have to pull off would only have been .01% more than the vote shift that Axel pulled off against Frog. Obviously the times at which votes were coming in would have affected things noticeably, but it does put other things into perspective.

KOTOR most game ever!

It is worth noting that Valve's been on a roll this contest as far as defying our expectations go. Nobody in the Oracle predicted GlaDOS to beat Fawful like he did, only one person took WCC to beat Sandal so badly, and thirteen predictions had Spy doing so well on MC or better. Only in Roxas/Heavy -- the last of the Valve-examples -- did thirty-one predictions take Heavy to do what he did or better, and that's still only ~28.5% of the predictions (though he was rallied, so there should have been more).

Either way, Valve's mostly not getting the respect it deserves so far before each match. If Ellis happens to impress too (which I'm not counting on, but who knows?), Gordon's in great shape. Even if he doesn't, Valve's been outdoing expectations every match thus far. It's not like Peach has ever been impressive and Gordon finished 2008 strong while flexing some off-site muscle at GameSpot recently.

If MC can't use his name-power and wide-spread recognition to impress against Spy, Peach isn't doing it against Gordon, and it's not like Peach has that much of a picture advantage anyway. She's just bigger. She should break 40% (probably easily), but it's nothing to go crazy over.

And Valve outdoing expectations means exactly nothing because they were almost all unknown quantities facing other unknown (or in the case of Master Chief, unreliable) quantities. Our expectations in such situations aren't gauges of Valve being "stronger" because we didn't know how strong it was in the first place!

That's fine, though we've seen every Valve character thus far in 2008, every game they're in last year, and have seen two of their four opponents before. It's not like our expectations are entirely baseless. You're right that it doesn't necessarily equate to increased strength though, but the trend of Valve looking good in every match remains.

Depending on the game, Nightmare both exists as part of Siegfried and as a distinct entity, if I'm remembering correctly.

Someone should submit a Sheik picture for one of Zelda's matches, in that case, not that it will matter since her path is so predictable this contest. But give her a Sheik pic against Samus, and see how much (if at all) she overperforms!
