But like... FFXII sucked. It's not surprising that it's weaksauce. Not everyone thought so. It's a polarizing game, but it has its fans. Even here at Gamefaqs it's the #1 PS2 game right now. You'd think that would translate to at least one of its characters, like it did for Squall in FF8. ...then again, Squall also has Kingdom Hearts. Balthier for KH3? |

FFXII gets worse as it goes along, if anything. The beginning of the game had some plot, the rest of the game...doesn't. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

The story never really picks up so if you don't like it halfway through, you'll probably never like it. Same with the characters. If you don't like them at that point, you probably won't end up liking them. I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay myself for the same reasons. MMOs no thanks. The story is one of the weakest in the series. I did like the characters for the most part though. Balthier, Ashe, and Basch are all good characters. I won't bother, then. I'm honestly trying really hard to remember a
single plot detail, but I can't. I don't even remember anything beyond
Balthier and Fran being sky pirates or something. I don't remember who
Ashe, Basche, Penelo or even Vaan are at all. Not a single detail

The
story definitely picks up IMO. It shifts focus from political
"intrigue" to Cid and the Occuria, who are one-dimensional but still
pretty interesting. Gameplay picks up if you like gambits - you get
more, and you get more freedom to go with it. Characters...I dunno.
There are some badass NPCs late in the game, but of the main party only
Ashe and Fran really develop at all. I'd give it another go, but only if your backlog's running low. |

kept hearing the battle system was similar to KotOR's, so I was
naturally intrigued. I played for 30-45 minutes, put it aside because I
got Mario Galaxy, and I haven't touched it yet. It just didn't seem for

didn't enjoy FFXII, purely because it felt like half a game. When I was
reaching the end I was expecting a whole new country to explore, and
then it just ends all of a sudden. --- KrahenProphet and Nintendo cleaned me out in the Guru Contest. |

I
think IX is up there with those two. Main thing that holds it back is
an extremely slow battle system (and I played the slower PAL version
too... yeah), and no "no encounters" ability to get round it.
Plot/characters/sidequests/atmosphere/music/skill system were all
thoroughly enjoyable. Can be quite touching at times too! VII, IX and X

When
I said "slow" I'm less meaning "animations" (which, other than Summons,
none are very long in FFX) and more "why does the camera insist on
spending 20+ seconds panning around before every fight?" (happens in
FFIX). I had FFX in earlier, and battles are over and done much quicker

FF12 arguments, ew. Stop that. So I've been going through every contest, trying to make a list of the best matches. I'm up to Fall 2007 (the first fourway, no seed contest), first round. I came across a very interesting match. Auron Chris Redfield Pyramid Head Shadow the Hedgehog It was Auron > Shadow in 2007. going to agree with those who say this is good for the Ryu>Dante
pickers. As someone who is doing well in the guru and has Dante >
Ryu in the guru, this worries me. Dante had better impress tomorrow... Of course, Charizard > Kratos is going to sink me once and for all <_< --- Guru contest: 43/46 (T1) Misses: Boss, Altair, Kefka. Next upset: Terra > Revan |

That's
what I was asking earlier, though. What if it's different at Gamefaqs
for some reason? What if Ashe, Basch or even Fran could do better than
this? I just couldn't believe that the best character from a post-SNES
FF game is only worth 30% on Ryu. At this point, though, I'm starting
to understand why. As for Auron/Chris/Pyramid/Shadow, I'd pick Auron/Chris today, but I'd still be iffy. It's not like it's Leon or anything. |

got to the very end of FFXII and was aiming to complete the monster
hunts. Made it all the way to this monster where he would only appear
after you clear out all the enemies in 2 seperate sections of the

8 typically does really well in these contests. It's silly how we'll
hear "so glad I didn't listen to the board on my mega fantastic 1-point
upset special" a million times a contest, yet without the general
knowledge floating around here that's always taken for granted, people
would make tons of ridiculous picks. Neither the board nor the Stats
Topic are shackles restricting anyone's already ass-kicking prediction

i listened to this board suggestions for matched I had doubt and this
is the first time that I get so well.Now I too can say that I should
had chosen Sackboy and Kefka to win but I just say I am happy that I
listened most suggestions here.Now people that complain well I find
that pathetic.Me I only wanted when this contest is over to be on the
leaderboad,because I have never done it.Nevertheless the correct

From
what I've heard Final Fantasy XII stands out more for its gameplay
renovation from the older FFs and, to a lesser extent, the epic
cutscenes, while the story and soundtrack are weaker (though still
good) compared to the older FFs. The game has very mixed critical
reception. If Balthier is this weak...could Freeman be in trouble? It's not hard to imagine Peach breaking 40% on Ryu, though I could be wrong about this. |

contest. Jill / MM / Ryu / Chris have all impressed me. Let's hope that

The
match should be plenty competitive. As long as Ryu didn't underperform
here (and he didn't), Dante/Ryu should still be a good-looking match

also changed from Dante to Ryu, so PLEASE, for once, just this ONCE,
