Man,
we didn't really get that many newcomers. We really need to get more
characters in. Sounds like a good excuse to discuss potential
characters to nominate that will be at least high fodder! Agreed! I'd like to see more newcomers in '11. These are some newcomers I think could do quite well: Goomba (Super Mario Bros.) Marin (The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening) New Age Retro Hippie (EarthBound) Mr. Game and Watch (Game and Watch series) Bayonetta (Bayonetta) Scout (Team Fortress 2) Magikarp (Pokemon) Maybe Fulgore from Killer Instinct too, since there seems to be a big fighting game fanbase here. I'm just saying since everyone else seems to be underperforming, it wouldn't surprise me if Snake does too. Not that he's in danger of not getting to Seph or anything >_> I don't really see how Snake would be underperforming if he failed to break 75% on him, though. Proto Man isn't Eddie Riggs-level fodder or anything. --- Vote for Vault Boy! Because seriously, wouldn't Vault Boy/Sackboy be funny to see? |

don't really see how Snake would be underperforming if he failed to
break 75% on him, though. Proto Man isn't Eddie Riggs-level fodder or

I'd consider Soulcalibur over SSB64 slightly more moronic. Only slightly, because snubbing Golden Sun was idiotic as well. We've already seen Fire Emblem suck once, why did we need to see it suck again? Agreed. Why? Soul Calibur did well enough in the first contest to deserve a second chance, and there were two more popular Smash games in the contest already. Meanwhile, Fire Emblem had no reason at all to be in the contest. But did we REALLY have to boot out SSB64? Removing an entry with potential in favor of garbage... Even
in retrospect, I think SF4 over TWEWY was a good move. We definitely
had no clue back then that SF4 would be as weak as it was, and watching
it struggle to beat Persona 4 was worth the switch! From: Xeybozn | #045 I don't have any objections with Soulcalibur itself and felt it was a good game to switch in, but SSB64 really was an unknown entity. The series took off here with Melee, and we didn't even have any good polls that told us how strong SSB64 would be. It had a huge range that made its match much more unpredictable. It could've beat Starcraft and maybe even threaten FF8. It could've done the same as SC did. Either way, we still have no idea how strong the original game is, and it would have only made the division more exciting. --- Not Wylvane |

Goomba (Super Mario Bros.) - Yes Marin (The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening) - No. LA did ok in teh Game contest, but she would do horribly New Age Retro Hippie (EarthBound) - No Mr. Game and Watch (Game and Watch series) - hell no Bayonetta (Bayonetta) - yes, but she's likely to get in anyway, since her game is now released Scout (Team Fortress 2) - Spy and Heavy did ok, so why not Magikarp (Pokemon) - no more pokemon please, even if they have joke appeal --- A pro isn't someone who sacrifices himself for his job. New Age Retro Hippie would be a nice joke character, and I think Goomba, Scout, and Bayonetta are musts. It's hard to really think of more FF characters. There's, what, Shadow and Barrett? I think we should think more universal here, not just Bahamut, but other summons like Shiva, Titan, and Leviathan. I don't have much faith in Moogles or Chocobos, but there's no reason not to bring them in anyway. What about other large games? Must be untapped potential somewhere. --- Not Wylvane |

From a "contest strength" perspective... I don't know, probably Dr. Wily. From a "favorite character" perspective, though, it'd have to be Q*Bert! to the doubling point. Aside from Snake likely being on the decline,

Zero also came dangerously close to Vivi
there. Aside from the fact that there was clearly some weird SFF going
on between Zero/Ryu/Snake, I think his Round 2 match against Crono in

I propose the next rally tournament being for 3 or 6 noms. A 32 entrant bracket for returners A 32 entrant bracket for snubs A 16 entrant bracket for newcomers since the last contest. think if a character has been in a contest, they can't claim to be a
newcomer. Lightning shouldn't have any trouble getting nominations
