Seifer didn't make the Villain Contest, and we don't know for sure if that was because he was ineligible or not. Seifer failed to make it in 2007 when he won the NRT, and that was when GameFAQs doubled its playing field. Seifer (and the rest of FF8) failed to even be seen this year despite the 101st-172nd most-nominated characters getting into the vote-ins. Seifer failed to make it in 2006 despite being in KH2, though that can be blamed on the Female Bracket. Neither Rinoa nor Quistis made it into the Female Bracket though, and this was a year that featured Square contest-newbies Kairi (as a two-seed!), Celes, and Marle getting in over them.

Since FF8 is still a strong game, I assume Squall is far and away the reason to play FF8 -- I feel like I've heard before this is true, too. The rest of the cast has had golden opportunities to make it in, especially Seifer. I try not to hate on characters who wait a long time to get into contests specifically because of nominations, but look at how many good chances were available. Nobody outside of Squall can take advantage of it in any year? I'm done trying to support them unless they're the Guru-choice or an NRT-finalist (where I'll be voting against them in probably most cases).

Well, Shadow got lucky that he's only been in 3 1-on-1 contest so far! Same with Aerith. Heck, only Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Snake, Kirby, and Ryu have been in more than three. Shadow's been in 3 (I'm counting his loss to Ammy as his third since he did break 40% there), Aerith's been in three, Riku, Kratos, Tifa, and Vincent have been in two.

Riku's streak will probably extend if he loses to Falcon next round, but it will definitely end if he advances to round three. Aerith's is in danger of coming to an end, though I wouldn't say it's certain. Kirby's streak will stay alive if he doesn't beat Sonic in all likelihood (but if he does, it definitely will). Ryu's streak will probably stay in tact if he loses to Dante (or Leon Kennedy), but if he makes it to Cloud, then it probably comes to an end (But you never know, the guy's got 40%+ on every Noble Niner so far! Only Link, Sephiroth, and Mario to go after this contest!). There's a good chance Kratos's streak will stay alive, but maybe it won't. Vincent's is definitely coming to an end, and Tifa's probably will unless she loses to Gordon.

So after this contest, that list could potentially be down to:

5. Shadow

Theoretically, sprites of Fossil Kabutops/Fossil Aerodactyl/Pokemon Tower Ghost could be used for Missingno. - there are numerous different forms of the glitch, and some of them have those sprites.

But of course, that'd be really bad for Missingno., since few people realize it has other forms outside of the classic "L-Block" shape.

Yeah I don't know how Seifer has never made it in -- but I doubt he would be very strong at this point unless they made a FFVIII sequel or remake. Characters that have been in the contest for a long time seem to develop established fanbases. Seifer jumping in now would probably be pretty weak -- but you never know!

Everybody has that Nomura look, GameFAQs kids will enjoy that if they don't recognize the games.

Dauragon was my favorite though, the martial badass corrupted who's original intentions was to avenge his sister but was corrupted by power. I remember that scene at the end, when he's floating in space, they zoom in on his necklace, with a picture of his sister inside. The little kid version of me teared up a bit ;_;
