I don't know, I guess Pikmin's advantage to me was simply being the first game of its kind. It felt so... fresh, y'know? Pikmin 2 had some awesome new additions like you said, but unlike the first game, it never struck me as a revelation or anything. Still a great game though.

I feel big daddy/soap is one of those matches that the time of day can change it. Bioshock has a more hardcore fanbase so it should do better at night while MW2 is great at day and below average at night.
