I've
never been a huge Samus fan, but I've never been a huge Metroid fan
either. I've never beaten one. I got all the way to Meta Ridley in
Prime, too, but then I quit and never picked it back up. This was a few
years ago, too. Tried to play some Super Metroid, but I got tired of
constantly backtracking and trying to figure out where in the world I'm

should've had a Snake/Samus match-up, with the winner facing Mario.
Snake's wasted against Sephiroth, no matter how desperate people are to
see Sephy fall to characters not named Kirby! Snake's not wasted against Sephiroth; that is the dream of every lower Noble Niner, to beat Sephiroth and enter the realm of Clinkeroth. which is vastly superior in pretty much every way. I go through a few

because I got sick of it sitting in my now playing case for the past 4

Metroid's
story is kinda sparse throughout the games, but there are some great
subtle moments here and there. You just have to notice them. Well, besides Fusion. That game had way too much talking. At least MP2 and 3 didn't detract from the isolation aspect as much. --- Not Wylvane |

try really hard to like Metroid, but I just can't... I own like five of
them and have never beaten one or even gotten particularly close to
beating one, but I feel obligated to keep trying because I'm a Nintendo

not a big fan of Samus in Smash Bros. because my little stepbro used to
pick her all the time and constantly just sit back and spam her charge

Plus, I think Fusion is the only game Samus actually talks, besides the intro for Super Metroid anyway. It's really hard to explain Samus's character. It's very subtle and requires playing pretty much the entire series to get, which I can understand not many people would want to do. As for Master Chief, I only play Halo for the multiplayer, so I don't know jack about him. But I'd probably like him if I'd bother to play single-player. --- Not Wylvane |

Metroid
games sell well enough, especially in the West. They aren't 20+ million
sellers like Mario, but they sell multiple millions, almost all outside
of Japan. Metroid games aren't the strongest, but Samus has more areas
to pull from on top of those. Smash Bros. is a big help, being from

well
it's only the Varia Suit that gives her the super shoulders. Just stick

Speaking of which, I'm replaying C:SotN right now...and now that I'm not on somebody else's 360 (and won't have it RRoD'd just as I beat, uh...half the game, we'll say), this time I'm gonna beat it all. Hahaha, Metroid NES sucks these days. Better off playing Zero Mission instead. One thing Metroid has always been fantastic with is atmosphere. Even in the NES and Game Boy games, the atmosphere was well done. And of course games like Super Metroid and Metroid Prime ****ing nailed it. I'm still amazed that Metroid transitioned to 3D so perfectly. It seems to be an even smoother transition than Mario and Zelda had. It really is the classic Metroid formula in 3D, except much more incredibly stunning. I love the Metroid series. --- Not Wylvane |

Yeah,
one thing I can definitely say about Prime is that it was a beautiful
game, which makes it all the more curious why I don't love it. I

Yeah,
Metroid is my favorite Nintendo series for that reason. The atmosphere
is top notch against any game, and the story is subtle enough to be
interesting but not overtake the game. Awesome series, looking forward

also prefer Super Metroid to SotN myself, just because I prefer the
simplicity and the diverse atmosphere of Zebes. Not knocking SotN of
course, it's one of the very few PS1 games I love and was brilliantly
done in every aspect. I just prefer the setting and simplicity of Super

I'll take the one great Star Fox game over Pokemon, dude! Not that there's anything wrong with Pokemon, per se. I just never got into it. biggest thing Fox has done in the last decade was be #1 in SSBM. I
