~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Solid Snake, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Tifa, Vincent, Zelda, Kirby, etc group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters in the past.

Aww yeah, Isaac.

Yes it's only Layton but he is pretty high-end fodder, or at least he should be given that he's had a European release(Layton is HUGE here) and a sequel.

Pikachu's percentage on Crono in round 4: 42.28%
Duke's percentage on Zack: 39.55%

Zack got 49% on Mario last year while Crono got 57%, but Crono was in a more favorable position with Samus instead of MMX, so Crono probably gets 55% or so on Zack. That matches up with Zack looking to be around Zelda level against Yuna pretty well.

If Charizard is at Pikachu's level, he shouldn't have any problems. If he's only at Mewtwo level, Duke has a great chance of winning this.

Among the fandom, Isaac is more popular than Felix, more prominent than Felix, his main game came first, and he was in Brawl. Felix simply capitalised on a massive anti-vote. If it had been Isaac, maybe he would have even won.

Krahen Prophet did a fatality.

It's fun to think about how close Pikachu/Mewtwo could be; if you look at Ganon/Mewtwo and Luigi/Pikachu, it's hard to say there's a big difference between them. Pikachu's definitely had the more (legitimate) impressive performances between them though.

Felix's one match was more impressive than anything Isaac ever did until today, and even then, it's Isaac doubling Layton.

Felix would be a lot more interesting to see again than most other characters, even if he does pull a Ken.

We actually lost a few 0 brackets somehow. Other than that, a pretty normal round.

2 people fell off the Top 50 today. Firaga_Fighter and tazzyboyishere thought L-Block wouldn't be able to beat Hk-47 in 1 on 1 combat.

1 person got the match wrong and survived. Former second place manticore16 also thought L-Block would lose.

Duke faced Kefka, Altair, and Zack last year, and all of them have looked terrific this year. Duke being decent shouldn't be too surprising considering he put up 22% on Link last year, but people have been hesitant about taking that and Zack's 30% seriously.

As for Mewtwo, 25% on Cloud should be better than 22% on Link, but not by any huge amount. I'd take Mewtwo over Duke normally, but in a night match and with the picture Duke has, he could pull out a win.

Yeah, but even though it's not by much, it does put Pikachu clearly ahead of Mewtwo. Mewtwo's never really had a performance that made me think he's stronger than Pikachu nowadays anyway.

The term "fodder" is used too lightly. According to this Isaac would give Raiden and Kain a match(granting Layton something of a boost).

Now, fodder should be reserved for only the absolute first round blowout guys. I mean CATS level. The people who have no chance except against someone equally weak, and then it'll be close.

I mean, I'd say Guybrush is about the fodder line, and we already saw how that played out.

I'll admit the fourpack that Duke was in have looked good but at least the people who have so far have a reason to boost.. at least I think. I still can't look at Duke and say he's a solid Mid-carder though I wouldn't take him to come anywhere close to 40% on Ganondorf; that's for sure.
