Its like Sora all that much better on Midna, even though I do have Sora > Bowser

Thing is, Sora is just a stronger version of Master Chief. Never blows anyone out, never gets blown out. Today is just terrible for Bowser if he's trying to pull late-round upsets.

Man... Why are there so few blowouts...?

Blame the vote-ins, everyone from 13 seed and lower is at least decent fodder meaning even the strongest characters can't win by that much. All of the weaker characters that got higher seeds are against weaker characters that can't blow them out.

We do have Vincent/Guybrush and Tifa/Yuri.

Analysis

This is it; this is the match that will tell us where joke characters stand in this format. Weighted Companion Cube may have put in the good word by getting one of the biggest wins of the contest so far, though that was against random Dragon Age guy. L-Block’s opponent is a bit more respectable and should the jokes falter we could see another upset in this division.

Many people thought the reintroduction of one on one would change the strength of many characters. Overall the differences are about split; the Sonic crew is still terrible, Mewtwo’s performance implies that Pokemon still have strength, but on the other hand Master Chief has gone back to his anti-voted ways while the jury is still out on what happened in Kefka/Arthas. Joke characters on the other hand while have a large base which gives them strength in four-ways due to voting split still have the ability to get 50% in a match.

The closest thing L-Block has come to a one on one match was his first match against Kirby, Laharl and Nathan Hale. Kirby won 59/41 which is pretty decent considering Kirby’s strength at that time. Still almost 25% of the votes were not accountable for and while no one can say for sure I think Kirby would have gotten a larger split what the 59/41 suggests. L-Block has also gotten stronger since that match, though it seems that he picked up some hate in 2008 considering that its board vote wasn’t as strong and people went to rally Crono and Pikachu in order to eliminate it. If L-Block still retains some of that hate this format is clearly not for it.

HK-47 is seen to be around the fodder line and while he was able to impress in the vote-ins and his game was decent in the games contest I don’t think he’ll venture that far off from that line. HK-47 I feel is fighting against people who recognize him and those that do not. Joke characters could easily be weaker in this format, but if HK-47 doesn’t have the recognition to back it up he’ll still lose.

Expect the vote total to be low which will benefit L-Block. Tetris is universally known which could therefore give L-Block the apathy votes needed to win. While L-Block does seem to have this match locked up I can’t bring myself to abandon HK-47 and I will thus stay aboard this sinking ship.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Guybrush and Yuri somehow avoid being doubled... I will admit, thouigh, that G0EMONIMPACT hit the nail on the head: Everyone and their grandma seems to be underperforming...

Yuri Lowell is probably a bit below Lloyd. Game isn't as popular, but he himself is much more beloved by his fanbase.
