Actually, from what someone was telling me, some of those zeroes may be people who didn't complete their bracket. Even if you got a match right but you didn't finish your bracket, your score always appears as 0. I don't know if they're being counted in the overall total, but who knows.

Then you'd think there'd be a lot more 0's than 68.

I do think something fishy is going on there, though. You'd really think that after the first few matches the number of perfects and zero-brackets would be pretty proportional, with there usually being more perfects since only some people strive for zero-brackets. No clue what's going on there.

Might be something to ask Bacon.

After how Crisis Core burned me last year, I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't assume a Dissidia boost. I mean, Kefka hasn't been in a new game in 15 years, obviously Dissidia should boost him.

...I'm losing a point picking against Kefka in the same contest I lost a point picking Magus. This is the worst.

You guys just have no idea how pics affect performance.

The quality of a pic has no effect on a character's performance. The recognizability of a pic means everything. Many voters come to the site for other reasons than voting in the poll. When they see a picture of a character they like, then they take several seconds to vote in a poll they otherwise have no intention of voting in.

That is why two of the biggest picture-related bombs, sprite Snake and Zero Suit Samus, happened. Few people could recognize them from these pics, and the casual Metal Gear or Metroid/Smash fan just did not vote at all.

Kefka's pic today may be bad (from an absolute point of view; still pretty good for Kefka), but it is recognizable to someone who has played FF6. It looks similar to Kefka's battle sprite in Narshe. Angel sprite Kefka did well for the same reason. Lettuce and clown Kefka bombed not because they were terrible pics, though they were, but because no one knew who he was.

Having a good pic is important too. You have to realize that unless it's Sonic Vs. Cloud or something like that, there's going to be like 20-25% of visitors during any match that won't know any of the characters participating at all but will still take the time to vote. What do you think they'll vote for?

This sounds dramatically wrong. I don't know what percentage is correct, but there's no way one out of every four/five voters in each match don't recognize the characters yet voted anyway. Not even bracket-voting should put it that high. Laharl/Neku was 20,000+ votes shy of Altair/Liquid for a reason.

I still maintain that we should really see Zero Suit Samus vs. FMV Clown Kefka. It would be a hilarious pic, seeing "I took my suit off for no good reason" fight a stupid clown, plus, once again, that both characters shouldn't be smiling. I'm surprised that I don't have any responses here.

Arthas didn't make a decent push for 40%, and these votals are AWFUL. Jeez.

Talking about picture sensitivity, I wish Bowser would get more pictures from the RPG games. That's the version of Bowser I love. Seeing the picture he's got now doesn't inspire those memories and the same feeling I get.

It sure as hell ain't Bowser! Hell, Mario actually kills Bowser off in the first ****ing world of NSMB before Bowser Jr. brings his father back from the dead in World 8.

I honest-to-god believe this. I'm almost tempted to pick Bowser Jr. as my Guru nom if I didn't know I was the only one who knew the true awesomeness of Bowser Jr.

The guy gets his ass kicked 50 or so times, yet comes back and keeps on fighting anyway. The kid has brass balls, I tell you.

There's the Dry Bones, but I figured the Magikoopas did that.

While Bowser's off crying about his love for Peach, Bowser Jr. is off studying magic and rallying the armies. And yet people think Bowser is the superior villain.

But I have faith that eventually people will see once and for all that Bowser Jr. is the superior of the two!

Exactly. Zero Suit Samus was a great picture, but Samus still underperformed because it was unrecognizable. Pig Ganon's not a bad sprite either if it's the SNES version, but he still undeperformed against Ansem (I think that was the SNES sprite.) Hell Snake's pic against Zelda was probably one of the worst he's ever gotten, but he didn't underperform, since people recognized it. (Somehow. This pic was pretty unrecognizable to me)

Regardless, how well do you think Frog does on Midna now? Last time they met Frog won quite decisively, but then again Samus was in that match. Still, if Bowser breaks 60% I'm willing to throw Sora/Bowser into coinflip territory.

Given what Magus did against Alucard, if Bowser can't break what Sora did on Midna Bowser/Sora isn't debatable.

Now, if Frog manages to stay above 40% somehow then I'll start feeling great about Mario/Sora as opposed to simply pretending. Oh yeah...
