It might have been one of these, might have been another topic... It wasn't a topic of mine (cause I rarely make topics at all) and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a topic of hers. It was a week back atleast... Not frequenting this board too much means not paying too much attention.

Last I heard, she didn't post on this board anymore. If you remember arguing with her on this board, you've probably got the wrong person.

You know, Kefka doing this today means we now actually have to kick him out of the Fourpack of Doom (or Fourpack of Suck if you prefer). What he's doing here puts him about equal to Alucard, who 60/40'd Magus, so Kefka might actually dominate this fourpack (egads). Thankfully we can simply replace him with Lettuce Kefka.

Which means that Ryu sux confirming Dante > Ryu (as if there was any doubt beforehand!).

Before the contest I was actually quite surprised at how favored Dante was over Ryu, that didn't make sense to me. After seeing Ken's performance though it's hard to pick Ryu there, much as I want to. Hopefully Wesker just boosted due to RE5 and Ken doesn't suck hard - but, I'm not convinced of that.

Dante just has the hard numbers behind him. I had Ryu initially and I think it's a possible upset for sure. Just logically I had to go with Dante in that one because I don't see any reason for Ryu to suddenly close the gap between the two characters. But I never had a logical reason for picking Yoshi > Dante in 2006 (besides thinking maybe LUE wouldn't let Yoshi fail in a close match) and that panned out, so it makes me second guess my Dante pick.

That's 5 updates in a row where Arthas got above 40% on. And LOL at Kefka's 53.66% update earlier. Looks like Arthas might just be able to get in a cut.

I don't think so... But I'm not gonna say it's impossible... Seeing as kawaiifan is one of the few nicks I'm actually very familiar with, it's reasonable to speculate that the person I did "argue" with had a more or less similar nick as kawaii... And in my memory I've just applied kawaii's name to it. And if you say that she really doesn't come here anymore, well I guess that's that... But I was so sure it was her...

Oh well, whomever it may be, rectification is good... :D

Where's kawaii posting these days anyway? I didn't think so posted about the contest anymore. I'd love to see what she's saying.

She doesn't analyze the contests. Anyways, kawaiifan posts on some small game boards that actually have discussion about the game itself. She bumps the topics on those boards.

It was a week back atleast... Not frequenting this board too much means not paying too much attention.

Where at?

This discussion about kawaiifan is interesting, especially because I am teamed up with her for the Oracle Challenge. My team is currently on top of the team leaderboard.

Since I'm all about RE right now (playing through the series, a fellow B8er let me borrow it), remember this poll?

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3420

Claire did fairly badly there, likely because RE2 was the only numbered series game she was playable in (no one cares about Veronica). Long story short, could Sheva beat Kairi in a 1v1 match?

I'm in the top 63 without showing up in the top 50. If I had to lose my chance of being in the top 50 for any character, Kefka's not bad. At least he is one of my top 3 villains ever.

So is this from hardcore RPG SFF, Kefka's picture being that much better than usual, or is this only because it's a night match? Or is it a combination? What does everyone think?

Assuming favourite brackets are decided by coin toss, the probability of having a favourites bracket scoring 0 (ignoring the imminent kefka win) is 1 in 1.49x10^6

But it isn't a coin toss, some of the winner/losers are connected which makes it more likely for a person to like/dislike a group of them.

Match XXVIII: (4) Bowser vs. (13) Frog

Information

Name: Bowser
Game/Series: Super Mario Bros.
Previous Contest: 2008
Performance: 3rd in round 2

Name: Frog
Game/Series: Chrono Trigger
Previous Contest: 2008
Performance: 3rd in round 2

Analysis

The match was never in question pre-contest and with the performance of Magus at the beginning of the contest I think those few upset talkers were silenced. This match is more about whether or not Bowser has a chance against Sora in round 3 and a chance at taking the division title, where he’ll be crushed by Mario. Maybe losing isn’t the worst idea.

A topic that was up for debate in the previous contest was whether or not the Mario crew took a hit in strength. Mario, Luigi and Bowser were all stuck behind SFF and LFF and therefore had reasons to not look their best, but Yoshi laid an egg against Squall. I don’t see a reason why the Mario crew would take a hit and we probably won’t know whether or not a drop in strength did happen since Bowser pretty much has the best case scenario against Frog.

Magus didn’t exactly inspire any kind of boost from Chrono Trigger DS meaning Frog won’t be able to be his usual self and create an interesting match. Another problem for Frog is that he’ll be getting a day match and we all know what that means. I usually don’t give the night/day thing much credit, but this is one of the few matches where I can see a rather large shift in percent between the two times.

Even if this ended up being a night match I would still expect Bowser to win without much trouble. Like Magus Frog has also taken a hit in popularity though I guess the main difference between the two is that Frog manages to win his matches despite getting weaker while Magus continues to fall flat on his face. This time however Frog doesn’t quite have a chance.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Bowser > Frog

charmander6000’s Prediction: Bowser wins, 64.27% - 35.73%

So here's my take on things:

Yes, I'm humongously surprised that Kefka is beating Arthas so badly right now. He seems to be dropping, but frankly I'm not sure it'll matter. It might in a 24-hour match, but not here. In addition, I stupidly bracket-voted Arthas, so I suppose I'll be joke-voting for Kefka next round to make up for it. I like Bowser, being the most iconic villain in gaming, but, uh, IT'S FREAKING KEFKA!!! And frankly enough, I think that's a good explanation for that. Which means...Liquid Snake continues on with his weirdness, we all FINALLY learn not to trust Kefka and then he comes up with this...there's one more character we know who's like this in the bracket, and his name is...Gordon Freeman. He's also practically beeen Mr. "I do well when nobody expects it and flop when nobody expects it" just like Liquid Snake and Kefka, so I'm not sure whether to trust him, especially because he's facing a Nintendo character and not just some random gun-wielder. Yes, common sense points to Freeman winning, even moreso since this contest began, but...IT'S GORDON FREEMAN, AND LOGIC DOES NOT EXIST IN A MATCH FEATURING GORDON FREEMAN, KEFKA, OR LIQUID SNAKE. That's all there is to say.

Kefka's pic didn't look that much better than usual, and Arthas looks absolutly goofy. Maybe Arthas is the pic-sensitive guy? Who knows?

Actually, from what someone was telling me, some of those zeroes may be people who didn't complete their bracket. Even if you got a match right but you didn't finish your bracket, your score always appears as 0. I don't know if they're being counted in the overall total, but who knows.
