About 95% of the comments on Kefka's picture before the match were that it was horrible. --- KrahenProphet and Nintendo cleaned me out in the Guru Contest. |

The
thing that caught me off guard here was that I thought this picture was
worse than last year's before the match. I mean......Bath Towel Kefka
looks kind of like Sephiroth, and this Kefka looks about as hideous as

Yeah,
I think this is just Kefka being awesome in Dissidia and becoming more
well known due to it. Remember that Zack never made it to a contest

It's
probably a combination of a bunch of reasons. And if this is all from
Dissidia, then Frog can certainly boost enough from CTDS to beat Bowser

mid carder, right? Dissidia could certainly be a factor, and Arthas probably has fallen from his 4way levels. I'm not saying this is 100% pic, but that should be the majority of the source of Kefka Variance. And really, "It's Kefka" is enough most of the time. The guy is nuts. Once
again, Thrall getting 20% means nothing because Warcraft without a
doubt can have 20% hardcore fans that'll vote for it regardless. That

Remember that Zack never made it to a contest before CC, after all, and he's definitely legit. Starting in one's own game like Zack did should be much more of a factor than Dissidia for Kefka. Dissidia boost is still sensible enough for Kefka though, albeit uncertain. e.g. in Cecil's case I think the majority of the surprise was from people underrating Cecil due to 1) Amano art (ugh that was awful) and 2) SFF. And a significant amount from Dissidia. That's my guess. If Kefka went from fodder line to high mid card through dissidia, then Cloud > Link Not necessarily. Kefka would have more room for improvement, he was pretty weaksauce. Also newer gamers weren't as familiar with him. Dissidia improved his name recognition among newer FF fans, whereas it wouldn't have done anything for Cloud in that department. Also it's highly doubtful Kefka is high mid-card. Frog can certainly boost enough from CTDS to beat Bowser in 10 hours! One big reason why I'm glad to NOT be a Chrono Trigger fanboy: You CT fanboys never fail to set yourselves up for disappointment. Setting
myself up for disappointment is what I do with regards to the contest
and sports. Actually, I like Bowser a lot, and if it weren't for
contest history and the emotional attachment that goes with it, I'd

much help for Magus. And I find it difficult to believe that Frog

like for everyone that were basically mocking me for picking Kefka and
(named kawaiifan) TO GROVEL BEFORE MY FEET! You pretty much called me
stupid for reasoning that the four way format hurt Diablo and two way
helped him and that's why Diablo lost to Arthas in 07 and still beat
Kefka in the Villains contest, but that with all that still it was
likely that Kefka would beat Arthas in a two way. Cause you know,
genius, FOUR WAYS CHANGES THINGS... They are not directly applicable on
two ways. Ok? Got that now? Good! Now go away and stand in the corner

It's Crono that is important. Frog is the most important to me, and I don't care all that much about Magus (him losing to Sandbag was a bit off-putting, but still entertaining). Crono I love but not as much as Frog. You just feel bad for Crono though, he's the most victimized contest character. Most tragic history of any elite character. Whereas Frog just victimizes chumps himself ;) Pfft, you don't need a track record to talk trash. That's the whole point of talking trash. Most of the time if you talk trash to people who have more game than you, you just end up looking like a clown. There's typically a hierarchy at work which everyone playing recognizes. in both four way contest I finished in (or near) the top 50 site wide
so I think I'm doing alright... And the fact that she has a track
record doesn't change the fact that she was horribly wrong and, even
worse, kinda mocked me while being horribly wrong... Just in general
it's not recommended to do that (and yes, I know I'm being guilty on
that same thing right now) but if you're gonna, you better god damn
know that you're right. Doing it and being wrong... You end up looking

don't know how this result is THIS surprising to you guys. I mean yeah,
the percentage is a bit shocking, but the result isn't. Personally I
didn't pick Kefka for ****s and giggles, I had some solid reasoning
behind it, mainly that I did not trust Arthas to appeal to most voters,
being a Warcraft character and now having the WoW stigma (possibly
leading to anti-votes). Also, technically Kefka > Arthas in 2007
x-stats >_> Yeah, 2008 Arthas did better, but his 4pack wasn't
exactly the strongest either. 20% against Pikachu, Alucard and Falcon
isn't THAT far off from 20% against Marth, Niko and Duke (Kefka is 2%
behind Arthas in x-stats on Leonhart's standings), and Arthas would
DEFINITELY have a stronger hardcore fanbase whereas I think Kefka will
be a bit of casual bait (as evidenced by getting picked by 63% of
brackets against Tommy, 56% against Knux, 71% against Fenix (57% in 1st
place), and probably a lot against Diablo in the Villains contest).
Kefka did crumble against many characters in the past but they were all
well known to casual users of the site so Kefka never got their
backing. And I'd definitely pick Diablo over Arthas in a 1v1, even

know, Kefka doing this today means we now actually have to kick him out
of the Fourpack of Doom (or Fourpack of Suck if you prefer). What he's
doing here puts him about equal to Alucard, who 60/40'd Magus, so Kefka
might actually dominate this fourpack (egads). Thankfully we can simply
replace him with Lettuce Kefka. Which means that Ryu sux confirming Dante > Ryu (as if there was any doubt beforehand!). Before the contest I was actually quite surprised at how favored Dante was over Ryu, that didn't make sense to me. After seeing Ken's performance though it's hard to pick Ryu there, much as I want to.
