Well, this contest blows uber-chunks for me. 20/25 and am missing today's match...this has to be my first time I'm gonna behind over two hundred people in the Guru. Never should have switched to Shadow > Ammy or Drake > The Boss.....

Wait until Auron > Squall and Hayabusa > MC pans out though; I'll make up my lost ground!

I'm more of a lurker on Board8 and the only match I've missed so far is Amaterasu > Shadow, which I happened to switch based on the suggestions of Board8.

There have been quite a few matches that went the opposite of conventional wisdom, so I can understand the low number of perfects.

I brought this up earlier but nobody responded cuz it was in the first 15 minutes of the match, but...

How long do you think Kefka leads tonight? Against Diablo, he was leading till almost 5 hours into the match and eventually was down 53-47% 12 hours into the match. And what kind of lead would Kefka need after the board vote to stand any chance? 57%? 58%?

I don't think Kefka's going to hold any significant lead. Arthas is also a night character, I believe brackets are on his side, and the board's hardly crazy for Kefka like they used to be (think Magus). If Arthas wins -- and he should, though at this point anything's possible -- he shouldn't let Kefka stay ahead of him long at all.

I'm actually kinda worried about Arthas. After seeing Ike Arthas might be a lot lower than we realize; although I don't think he's in any danger of losing, but I think he'll just scrape a win here.

Somehow Magus still won the board vote against Alucard, so maybe Kefka will win it again too. I think Arthas is going to win really easily though, so Kefka may not be in the lead at all or for only a very short time.

As for Frog/Midna/Mewtwo: Comparing their performances on Scorpion in 2007 gives Frog a win with about 52%. Comparing them through Mewtwo and Ganondorf in 2008 and 2010 gives Midna a win with about 55%.

Bah, not surprised to see Laharl winning here, but I hoped Neku could take him. He's got a good ASV, anyway. (Who knew?)

How long do you think Kefka leads tonight? Against Diablo, he was leading till almost 5 hours into the match and eventually was down 53-47% 12 hours into the match. And what kind of lead would Kefka need after the board vote to stand any chance? 57%? 58%?

Don't underestimate the power of brackets. Kefka led Marcus Fenix by 68 5 minutes into their match in 2007, presumably thanks to brackets, and then went to a lead of 66 and 58 in the 10 and 15 minutes updates. And then he got his groove and made it up to about 900 before losing a bit and ending up 750 at noon. (And then he got annihilated in the ASV.) Arthas is likely to profit from board bracket votes as well.

kefka/arthas and isaac/layton are the only two matches i can see being bracket busters in this division over the next few days.
Let's see usually we lose all our perfect around the last match or so of round 1 in the 64 character scenario?
So this could be one of the most unpredictable contests yet when you think about it.

Agreed, but on the board Arthas is favored, and it's the board who bracket votes early.

Even with the Gurus, Kefka's got 36% support. With the rest of the board, I'd say it's probably a higher percentage, too.

I just don't get it. How many times does this guy have to burn you before you give up on him? It's not like Magus, who at least has had a sliver of contest success before. Kefka's never done anything to suggest he's anything other than a weakling, and yet people keep on picking him.

I generally pick who I like more in 1 point matches that could reasonably be called debateable, and Kefka's been up against Diablo, Vercetti, Fenix, and now Arthas.

Oddly enough, I probably like Arthas the most out of that group. Oh well!

Neku breaks 43%. And I'd be interested in seeing Kefka in a match without a picture. To exaggerate a bit, Kefka's normal picture may be as bad as ZSS or Snake's sprites.

I dunno. It's entirely possible that Kefka's pictures really are that bad, and we just don't notice because he never gets any good pictures. The one exception was Angel Kefka in the Villains Contest, and it's really hard to extrapolate off of that. Look at Ganondorf- as soon as the picture was restored in his match last year, he went up several percent, even as we moved out of the Power Hour and into the night. Kefka's pictures have got to be worse than a typical Ganondorf picture.
