~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Solid Snake, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Tifa, Vincent, Zelda, Kirby, etc group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters in the past.

Ganon is amazing. He was completely shoehorned into Twilight Princess and remained as badass as ever. I was shocked at how awesome he was in the ending.

I liked the Zant fight in TP though. I like boss fights that go through multiple phases that require varying strategies each time.

Cool fight to be sure, but terrible character. The jealous/insane jester archetype is one of the hardest to do well, and he surely did not do it well.

Do you guys remember that topic when a user actually went into a mall, showed people pictures of various gaming characters, and asked them which ones they liked/recognized?

It was a great topic, and I remember three things most vividly:

1. Everyone except for one person recognized Mario
2. Quite a few guys got nostalgic when they saw Ryu and named him as their favorite character
3. Some girls fell in love with Squall and wanted to switch him to their favorite character

You know the picture. THE PICTURE. You remember the one. I think that whole ordeal is the biggest testament to CJayC actually following the goings on at Board 8.

Wacky match indeed. The fact that the vote totals were able to stay relatively consistent (and even go up slightly) from 3-6 seems to indicate rallying at work. No other day match has vote intake trends that look like that.

I'm going to remain skeptical of this Pikachu > Ganondorf talk until we actually seem it perform in a 1v1 for the first time since getting doubled by Fox McCloud back in 2k3. It's looked great in 4-ways, but so has Master Chief.
