~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Solid Snake, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Near-Elite - The Squall, Auron, Tifa, Vincent, Zelda, Kirby, etc group that has come at, near or even ahead of Noble Nine characters in the past.

It was more people thinking Cid would do well. Almost no one has him winning. Call it the crisis of expectations, I guess.

Oh look, Ulti brought up Mario/Samus.

I brought it up in a good way. You could make a good argument that it was our only case of rSFF giving a so-called weaker character a win, rather than something like MMX/Zero where the weaker character just gets a few updates.

And who do you think hurt who more, Wario with Link or Zidane with Zack? Because if anything, Zack's value on Link during that match was a little underinflated.

Plus, Zidane and Wario combine for like 23% total of the remaining %.

It doesn't really matter. It's still LFF.

Although I do find it rather humorous that Link couldn't keep Wario under 10% but Fox and Meta Knight could.

Still perfect, with Laharl and Arthas coming up. I dont know how I feel about Arthas really, but I could never trust Kefka so I anti-picked him.

yeah i could see zack/yuna being compared to mario/samus. zack is most definitely the stronger of the two, just like mario.

even though they're basically the same franchise.

You could argue for FPF against Link in those 2 matches. That's the only real argument I think. Zack didn't have a bandwagon because he didn't improve as the rounds went on- he was highly consistent.

It's LFF that didn't matter. Both of the bottom 2 options were utterly destroyed to the point where the remaining % left in the poll was more than enough to make a valid assumption about the top 2 compared to each other.

Vaan got utterly destroyed worse than Wario or Zidane. It still mattered. Having low percentage doesn't mean the LFF doesn't matter, and it's impossible to know who's hurting who worse, even though you'd assume naturally Link's getting hurt less. Nintendo LFF has always been worse than Square LFF though.

It mattered because Knuckles vs. Rikku ended up being a close match. And because Knuckles wasn't LFFing with anyone.

You can't just throw out 'But it's LFF!'. You have to have reasonable cause to dismiss the LFF, and for that match, you really don't.

No, Nintendo SFF has always been worse than Square SFF. Square LFF usually hurts worse, except for characters who are heavily dependent on SSB, but then, that's same game LFF and to be expected.

Yeah, Square LFF is typically worse than Nintendo.

I dunno. Mario/Zelda LFF almost caused Mario to lose to MMX. Bowser/Luigi LFF caused Luigi to lose to Liquid and Bowser to struggle with Phoenix Wright. Heck, look at Squall/Sora/Yoshi/Fox and tell me whose LFF hurt worse.
