Yeah. Zack's performance last year just screams Magus 2k3 to me. AKA dude gets overrated just because he managed to be not completely squashed. Extrapolate Zack through anyone in those matches (sans the last one) but Link and he doesn't really look all that great. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

Mega
Man is no Sonic or Crono. He's still relevant and memorable even though
he hasn't had any high-profile games recently besides MM9, unlike Crono
who was fading until CTDS, and he hasn't become a complete farce with
bad game after bad game to the point where he's considered a despised
joke like Sonic. Mega Man probably isn't as strong as he was in 2005 or so, but he's still up there and I'd still take him over everyone that had a chance against him like Crono, Vincent, Sonic, and Squall. --- Not Wylvane |

We
haven't seen Mega Man go up against anyone in the last few years; in
2007 he got blasted by Cloud and Samus - really blasted, only 31% on
Cloud, but he could plead overlap with Samus and Ryu (kinda). In 2008
he got blasted by Snake and lost to the Cube - really blasted again,
38.5% on Snake works out to 33% on Cloud, but he could plead overlap

Megaman's winning right now in Europe and Asia too. That'll probably change, but wow. Mega Man should win Europe as a whole, but it's the UK we should be looking at here. Mega Man is barely winning in the UK, but that will probably change. LFF where it doesn't exist to justify a bad performance. Mega Man

There's a reason Cid needed a rally and had to pass a vote-in to get in while Zack did not. Vincent and Tifa needed rallies plus Cloud and Sephiroth being removed from the bracket to get into the contest, and Aerith and Tifa can't even make it in consistently. Man, I remember when most of us thought that Cid would be the strongest NRT guy. Well, Yoshimitsu sucked it up in the vote-ins and couldn't even get in the contest. Ken nearly lost to Wesker. 2 questions come out of this: 1) How low will Mega Man's prediction % be against a FF7 character? Will it be under 60%? 2) Why is noone discussing the possibility of Gordon Freeman > Tifa? The only thing she's done in her career is fluke up that match with Samus, and she just SCREAMS Magus-style overperformance to me. wouldn't have called it LF at the time (and I was worried about Cid
here), but Mega Man looks really good and it seems unlikely that he
would have spontaneously boosted. Maybe it's a fourway vs 1v1 thing,
but why would that affect Mega Man? I'll guess we'll get a few more
matches to see before he gets beaten up by Mario. It's a real shame he gets fed to Mario instead of Sonic/Crono or the near elites. If he's really as strong as this match seems to indicate he'd probably would have surprised a bunch of us. Two changes - Sephiroth for Sora (1 seed swap) and Mega Man for Soap (3 seed swap) gives us Sora / Vincent // Yoshi / Crono /// Mega Man / Ness // Tifa / Gordon. Swap Ness and Zack, and Gordon and Squall to make it even more awesome. Oh well, I can't complain about the contest so far. I think Mega Man will break 80%. He's gotta be a bracket favorite as
one of the more dominant characters around, even if he is against FF7. 2) If Gordon beats Tifa, it'd be more because of Gordon being strong between Western and Valve love on GameFAQs, his run at Gamespot, and potential Valve/Steam rallying rather than Tifa being weak. Despite all that, I'm still thinking Tifa has this. --- Not Wylvane |
