I also saw some Prinny-discussion earlier...as I understand it, Prinny is a race in Disgaea the same way as Toad is a race in Mario, except that Prinny got a PSP-game starring one specific Prinny (don't think Toad's ever had his own game). If that's right, Prinny is going to be mashed like potatoes by Ike in their day-match.

Since this is the first round it's Falco since that was the biggest blowout. As for who is the weakest character performed so far it's probably Sandal with Fawful coming next.

He's not a joke, but he isn't serious, kind of like GlaDOS. Also anyone who played the game knows him, whether they like him or think he's annoying is a different question.


And how big is that game?

It was comparable to Dragon Age in the best original game poll in the GotY, take that as you will.

Why are people throwing around the idea of Mario losing to Big Boss? I'd expect 55% for the plumber at worst. Falco is stronger than Edgeworth by a good amount, and Mario is probably worth 70% on the bird without SFF, and even that's probably a bit too low.

I think most were just joking about the Big Boss > Mario upset. If BB does indeed get 45% on Mario, that would be very impressive, considering Vincent could only get 45% on a LFF Samus(hurt by Ganon).

Analysis

It’s always interesting when new characters from games the board doesn’t care about perform; they automatically think the other character is going to win in a huge blowout. I’m not saying that Claptrap will win or even that he’s not fodder; I’m just saying that some of the percentages that have been flying around are pretty ridiculous. Zidane is only a low mid-carder, there’s only so much that he can do before Claptrap becomes terrible fodder.

After Cecil’s performance earlier this contest a Dissidia boost has been talked about and being a lower ranked Final Fantasy character Zidane could benefit from it. To a lot of people there is only so weak Knuckles can be. Most wouldn’t take Shadow over Knuckles so that already suggests a boost from Final Fantasy IV DS and Dissidia. It’ll be hard to decide how much of a benefit Zidane got from that game until next round, but if he starts crushing Claptrap it would be a good sign.

To people that haven’t played Borderlands Claptrap is the icon of the game. Nobody can really say that they played the game and not at least recognize Claptrap. To some people he’s annoying while to others he’s funny. The game did pretty well in the GotY after you removed other FPS games, but as everybody knows games don’t equal characters. While he is fodder I don’t see him being in the garbage tier that some people think.

I don’t own a PSP, but looking at the Dissidia board it seems like people like to use Zidane so it seems that he would likely have the most to gain from. I’m not totally convinced that Dissidia brought in many new fans to the series, but if Zidane starts doubling Claptrap with ease I can see warning bells being rung.
