How many advantages would Cloud need before you would consider he might win against Link in a 1v1? Being the top option in the poll Link not having any huge releases in 3+ years and none on the horizon Cloud coming off a solid game (KH3 or something better) Unappealing Link Pic (NES sprite or worse) Awesome Cloud Pic 12-hours in the night-time not the finals Square game having a release on the day of the poll would you bite with all that? --- Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die. |

The gap between them isn't that large. 2006: Link with 53.94% 2007: Link with 54.84% 2008: Link with 56.12% The gap is pretty sizeable and getting larger as FFVII gradually fades. In fact, let's go all the way back. 2003: Link with 48.39% (Cloud wins!) 2004: Link with 51.82% (Up 3.42%) 2005: Link with 52.44% (Up 0.62%) 2006: Link with 53.94% (Up 1.50%) 2007: Link with 54.84% (Up 0.90%) 2008: Link with 56.12% (Up 1.30%) Pretty steady march upwards. --- Mustache...and Green... http://backloggery.com/rpguy96 |

If the 2007 and 2008 finals were legit, yeah, but I don't trust those matches at all for obvious reasons. I think it's funny how Link has always been the top option whenever they have faced each other 1v1, the same thing goes for Cloud and Sephiroth. how much of a difference could it make? --- Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die. |

has the benefit of a new release every few years while Cloud really has
FF7 re-releases and spinoffs and that PS3 remake which is either

I think that's it, there's been others where games were released just a couple of weeks before the match. match could ever rival the insanity of Mario/Cloud. That was a
one-in-a-million match. Even a huge site shift back to Nintendo and the
release of a new Mario game that's as revolutionary as Mario 64
wouldn't cause such an upset again. Hell, at this point I'm skeptical
that even the announcement or release of a FF7 remake for PS3 or FF15
starring Cloud Strife would propel Cloud over Link 1v1. Even L-Block winning 2007 doesn't compare to Mario/Cloud, and that's the only match that can come close to the insanity while having such high stakes involved. Mario/Crono, Halo/Starcraft, what have you, nothing can stand up to that one ****ed-up match of awesomeness. And to think we've never seen Cloud beat Mario except when Link's also in the poll. --- Not Wylvane |

Cloud
has had just the one game where he was the main playable character, I'm
dead certain if FFVII remake comes out, the hype maybe won't be enough,
but if the word of mouth is positive, then i can see Cloud winning. But FF has created an anti-fanbase that matches some of the bigger hatedoms out there, still don't see why it's cool to hate FF. --- Shakes Fist! |

Hmm...now
that I think about it, it's interesting that the only match that is
hurt by being a 12 hour match that I can see is Ike/Zidane. We know Ike
bombs during the night and is killer during the day, while Zidane has
opposite trends. I wonder if Ike could come back if that was a full 24

Borderlands
looked quite good once you got it away from the other FPS, so I think
people do care about it. And Claptrap is essentially the "face" of the
