Squall's never really had a chance to hit 80%. His weakest opponent was Geno, who's decent fodder. Auron usually gets surprisingly decent characters for first round draws, too.

This format seems blowout-resistant too. There's something about the lower votals that are making these things artificially closer. We've already had more close matches the first week or so than we've had in most contests.

The perfects got killed on this match. Only 25% of them successfully predicted Altair winning. As you go down the scoreboard, success rate increases. I'm a bit surprised the 0 brackets did so well. Only 3 of the 81 bit the dust on this match.

30 people fell off the Top 50 today. 7 people got the match wrong but survived. Former first place Mac_Arrowny, former second place MajinLou, enstout, Billy_Gates, DarkFalconX, Sandyoso and wedny also did not have Altair taking down Liquid Snake.

I'd call it the site shift where there isn't one central character in which everyone supports, in other words the strong get weaker while the weak get stronger.

Somewhat, but largely it's just that the total junk entrants like Neku aren't facing a Clinkeroth/Mario/Snake/Samus type.
