Pikachu
didn't get all of his strength increase from one boost in 2005 that
matched with the boosts the other Ninty characters were getting. Or at

The
first game of the series is usually the strongest because it introduces
the fanbase to the franchise/idea. Look at the first 3D Zelda game, the
first 3D FF game, the first 3D Mario game, the first Pokemon game, the

Not
to mention the difference between the rat in 2003 and 2007-present
coincides nicely with the difference between Nintendo in 2003 and
Nintendo in 2007-present. Really? Pikachu barely beat Parappa, got 20% on Cloud, and 33% on Fox back in 2002-2003. GS got 42% on Xenogears. In 2007, Pikachu beat Leon and Dante and put 44% on Luigi. In 2008 Pikachu put 46% on Crono and 37% on Samus. In 2009 RBY was arguably our #3 game and GS put 47% on Metal Gear Solid. This matches up with the difference ordinary Nintendo characters had between 2003 and 2007? never understood why anyone would pick Simon to win that match. Do we

Creed II is like 1 million in sales behind AC1. By the time Ezio's

boost, not the magnitude. You seem to think that Pokemon boosted in, I
don't know, 2006 and that was completely separate from the fact that

for these days? I just didn't want to spend $60 on a game I wasn't sure

The first one sold a lot more, was fresh and new (overshadowed by the mega blockbusters of late 2001, but I think many gamers respect what the original DMC brought to the table nowadays), and was very well received. The third has more hardcore fans, but I doubt it wins in a poll. think the reasons behind Pokemon's boost were different, or there were
more. I seriously doubt it all happened in one year, but I guess
there's no way to prove that unless you want to take the Series Contest

There's
also the fact that Altair is for the most part an unlikeable douche
while Ezio is actually likeable. While I do expect Altair to be
stronger, Ezio is far more liked within the fanbase from what I've seen. Of course this is Simon Belmont, so it'll be no contest regardless. |

Time to use Wikipedia for my arguments aw yeah On April 16, 2009, Ubisoft revealed that the game [Assassin's Creed] has sold 8 million copies to date. As of January 2010, Assassin's Creed II has sold over 6 million copies. So yeah. Sales difference between the two games is negligible on a site like GameFAQs. And AC2 is infinitely better well-received. I mean, AC1 didn't even make the GotY polls here, while AC2 is a candidate for overall GotY. --- KrahenProphet lived up to his name. |

AC2 is worth it. There's not much wrong with that game really. Although they did fix a lot of things from AC 2, it was kind of a chore for me to beat the freaking game and don't even get me started on the final boss. --- Awaiting Final Fantasy XIII |

That match shows a nice middle point for Pokemon's rise- it would have gotten killed by Metroid back in 2003 and would beat it easily now. But the reason it's hard to take it as face value is there's no guarantee it would have gotten killed by Metroid in 2003 or would kill it now. Series =/= Games, basically. think this is more MGS deboosting than anything. In 07, Liquid wasn't
great. He beat Alucard by 3, then completely folded the next round. I

Round 2 match comes up, it will probably have surpassed the original. It's about a million off, but it won't catch up to AC1 by the time this contest finishes. Games like Assassin's Creed are very, very frontloaded. don't think I can ever picture myself doing more than a single
playthrough of AC1 or 2.. Seems like a one and done deal to me..
Leonhart, you should definitely just rent the game instead and
considering you didn't even play the first one, a lot of questions from
the first game are answered in the second one so you'll be a little

AC1's

think there was a contest a few years back where I missed one first
round match in like four straight divisions. Based on that unwelcome
sense of deja vu, I feel compelled to rank the next division in terms
