Perhaps, but Drake went from being the star of Uncharted to the star of Uncharted 2. Cecil is going from the lead of FF4 to one of the fighters in Dissidia. It seems very unreasonable to give Cecil that kind of credit...I want to see more from the Dissidia-gang before giving this much credit.

Holy ****. I expected Lightning to do well, but not this.

I'm sure it's all been said before by now, but:
- Knuckles may have gotten the luckiest day-night draw in the contest. This is a tossup at night.
- So is anyone still taking Knux > Sonic?
- So is anyone still taking Sonic > Ganon?
- Or is this all Cecil, and the biggest old school boost we've ever seen? Or will EVER see?

FF4-2 is a non-factor, right?

yeah, I see your point, which is why I'm putting a big might, but I dunno, the FFIV crew seemed somewhat promising during the last contest with IVDS, I think now the dissidia crew in general will boost, cos although the game got a mixed reception on this board, overall it was a positive reception sitewide.
But yeah, i'm probably overrating cecil, but hey one can hope.

I still think it's an art thing. "Oh that's Cecil he was pretty cool" vs "Why is that black thing melting?" I guess we'll find out when Zidane and Tidus are up if there was an actual Dissidia boost. Well, Tidus anyway, because Zidane could get 80% in his first match and I wouldn't blink.

Cecil wasn't his original ash-like creaturey self there and still got doubled by Wario. Zack may have SFF'd him, but we have few examples of new-Square SFF'ing old-Square.

Right, Cecil did look bad in that Zack match, but I'm okay with calling that SFF at this point. My resistance to it was because
1) Auron almost certainly didn't SFF Rydia
2) Cecil never looked good before, and it was probably being too generous to him to give him the SFF excuse

But, there's at least two reasons why Rydia wouldn't be SFF'd by anyone except Tifa, and here's Cecil doing pretty awesome. I have no doubts that Knuckles is continuing with the whole falling off the face of the earth thing, which mitigates the second point somewhat, but I'm a bit hesitant to give too much credit to Dissidia before seeing Zidane and Tidus in action against real opponents.

It's just that Magus was so incredibly weak that he boosted and still lost horribly to Alucard. I mean, look who Magus faced last year- Sonic!

Seriously though, if you want reasons for Cecil boosting, I would put them:

1. FFIVDS. If he still looked weak last year you can blame Zack SFFing him.
2. Picture factor.
3. Dissidia.

With Dissidia a pretty long way belong the other 2.

it could also be a sony related products boost and Alucard boosted out of nowhere, but there's so many wild variable factors at this stage that we'll need to wait for round 2/3 for this mess to be sorted out.
