Why are we talking about Terra vs. Revan? It's on like the other side of the bracket. The next noteworthy match is really Wesker/Ken Thurs. morning.

Ken hasn't been in a contest since 2k3. I would expect a drop in strength like all characters from that time period, but Chun Li, M. Bison and Akuma have all performed since then and I would be shocked if Ken was weaker than any of those.

Also Wesker would need one heck of a boost from RE5.

The next two matches with more than a 75/25 split in the Guru are Liquid/Altair and...Neku/Laharl in the fourth division. Kind of disappointing after a pretty great start.

Just because most of the gurus think a result will happen doesn't mean it is not debatable.

GlaDOS/Fawful could turn into something and Zack/Yuna should also be hyped. I'm also interested in seeing Cid perform even though he doesn't have a chance.

I expect Darth Revan to win over Terra, but at the same time Darth Vader isn't in the same league as Superman and Batman.

What this has to do with Revan I don't know, but Vader would be a massive favorite over Superman. Vader and Batman are both potential Clinkeroth killers, they could win the whole damn bracket. They'd certainly be around Mario/Samus level at the absolute least, and wreck house against Mega Man/Sonic.

Han Solo and Yoda would be probably Noble Nine level as well.

This is a videogame site. Sure they'll do well, but not that well.

I've always found this line of thinking absurd. Yeah, this is a video game site. So what? That means that the people who visit here can't like other characters more? I'd expect Batman, Spider-Man, Vader and possibly Jack Sparrow to dethrone Link with ease. It's a fallacy to assume that just because this is a video game site, the visitors will vote video game characters over far more established icons.

Well, it'd have to be a best fictional character contest, not a best video game character contest. Darth Vader or Batman aren't going to be hanging with Clinkeroth based on their accomplishments in video games.

And it's not the same as your example. The difference is that if we hosted a fictional character contest on a neutral site like Google or Yahoo, Darth Vader and Batman would crush Clinkeroth.

Link Vs. Batman would be good. I don't have a clue who would win that one.

But saying Batman/Darth Vader/Spiderman would be weak on here shows that you have no sense of how people in general vote in these things. Just to let you know, GameFAQs is not a video game only website. I would vote Gordon Freeman over every character in these contests, but throw one of the Boondock Saints brothers into the match and I wouldn't even think about voting Gordon.

Fact is, Batman et al are extremely popular everywhere. They are mainstream icons. Just because this site is dedicated to video games does not mean that every person here is a hermit who have never seen a Star Wars movie.

And that's why I think Bats and Vader have a shot. They would kill Link on any non-gaming site, be it a movie site, a sports site, a cooking site, a porn site. They're just so much more broad in scope and appeal. At the same time, this is Link's house, and something like Ocarina of Time would kill any of Batman's games, movies, cartoons, comics, etc. It would be a tremendously exciting match, but wait, Batman didn't originate in a game.

charmander, I can't even begin to get into how much you're underestimating BATMAN of all characters. There is no doubt in my mind he'd beat Snake - he's like uber-Snake in terms of badassness. Everybody loves Batman (actually I'm not a fan myself, I've always disliked him a lot, although Dark Knight was awesome). And even if you disagree with him beating Snake, you'd be absolutely nutty to take guys like Mega Man or Sonic over him.

As for this "video game" sillyness, Batman has a very long history with video game. Spider-Man an even more successful one (although Batman would be stronger than Spider-Man). Not like it matters all that much; Batman would be among the strongest entrants by sheer virtue of Batmanness.

I think Batman takes the likes of Ganon/Vincent no problem. This may be a gaming-first site, but Batman is an icon no matter where you go, and comics/movies/etc. are much closer to video games than vise-versa.

I'm not really sure about that, at any site with gamers, the gamers would favor Link to Mario and it'd be up to the non-gamers to push him over Link. But in any case, it doesn't matter. Batman or Vader would crush Mario at any of those sites too.
