Hah, Ocelot gain. He's got this. There's no way the MGS fanbase lets him lose.

Shouldn't the board favorites be the ones to benefit from rallying and all? I know MGS has had a track record of pulling off some close wins, but that's when they are the favorite to win the match. Ocelot seems to have less support from the board, making him the underdog.

Analysis

This is quite easily the poorest seeded match of the entire contest. On one hand we have Price who rode the Modern Warfare 2 wave during the nominations to get a high seed and on the other we Mega Man X who gets forgotten since people nominated Mega Man thinking the guy covers everyone. In the end we’ll probably have one of the biggest seeding upset blowouts.

Despite never having a true match in which he could fully show case his strength I still believe that Mega Man X is at least comparable to the original robot. Too bad X is stuck with an easy four-pack on route to being SFF by Link so by the end of the contest we still won’t know his true strength.

Like I’ve said before Price got in and gained such a high seed because Modern Warfare 2 was just released over the nomination period. As most people know Modern Warfare 2 is more popular for its multiplayer rather than its single player. Sure the game was recently voted GameFAQs’ GotY, but at the same time I expect people to have just quickly played through the single player or even skip it all together.

On the plus side I find Price to be a really cool character and think that if people took the time to play the single player he could have some strength. Sadly I feel that is not the case and even if it was Mega Man X is on a whole different planet. Overall this is the first example of how crazy the seeding is in this contest.

Persona IV is a huge board favourite and when SFIV choked it only seemed natural for the board to help that game.
