So... we're doing two a day this time? Makes sense going back to 1 vs 1 instead of 4 way matches.

~Dammit the Karma Boost blasted me over 3000, no milestone post for me.

Second least amount of brackets for a contest behind only 2002. Ouch.

I think it's because of the sheer amount of matches to fill out. In the past, there were only 63 matches to fill out in a standard bracket (minus any ToC/Battle Royale stuff), or 31 matches for the Series Contest. Given that there are 127 matches, I could understand why many casuals didn't want to fill out a bracket, because of how much longer it takes to fill out a bracket with about twice as many matches.

Yeah, the bracket's just too big for a lot of people to mess with.

You also have to remember that:

a) 128 matches is a lot and most casuals wouldn't bother
b) December/January is a really busy time of year for people compared to the late spring/early summer bracket submissions we're used to
c) lol 12 hour matches

There's also the problem of many of the casuals not knowing most of the competitors. In four-ways it was more likely for someone to know at least one person from the group.

It's not exactly fair to say Lucario is to Pokemon the same way Red is. Who knows how much being the trainer means -- you're right that the game's popular for the Pokemon -- but that's not a fair comparison either.

So Magus is officially fodder now. Alucard's been hanging with guys like Ness and Captain Falcon (with Diddy Kong!) over the last two years, and surely anyone that gets Ulti-destroyed by Falcon is fodder.

Hm...in 2007 Zidahn got 40.6% on Alucard. Let's see if Magus can stay ahead of Zidahn!

If you consider almost-equal-to-Snake Frog to almost-equal-to-Axel-and-probably-worse-now Frog, that's probably about the same order of a decline as Magus. (Though you're obviously cheating a bit.)

I just realized another strike against Sonic.

In 2007, Magus lost updates to CRASH BANDICOOT. But in 2008, the same guy broke 40% on SONIC.

Even if Sonic was LFFd, this was darn sad. Man I am wishing that I picked Kirby to upset him.

BTW for this current match I had no idea who to vote for, so I asked my younger brother and he told me to vote for Alucard. So it stuck. I own Chrono Trigger DS but no Castlevania, but my younger brother likes "Bloody Tears" quite a bit, and so do I.

Unfortunately on weekdays I will only be able to catch up to these day matches in the morning, because my bedtime is 10pm and I basically only get 20 minutes before I have to leave at 7:30am for school. Darn it. I am so wishing that I wasn't here, though I suppose a lot of things are more important than this contest.

Are all the guest predictions for this round reserved already? Oh well, I suppose I won't add that much (after that good-for-nothing debacle picking SMB3 > SMB1. Though it seems that my predictions in the FFX > KH match were good).

Frog was never in danger of losing to KOS-MOS, which is more than you can say for most of his matches!

By the way, how badly does Ganon beat Magus nowadays?
