I think a lot of people vote in contests, but don't fill out a bracket.

And it makes sense- it's not that easy to fill out a bracket, especially a 128 character bracket. Plus it's virtually impossible to win unless you've followed past contests or at least looked at their stats, although I'm not sure how many casuals realize that. I think they do realize that 40,000 to 1 odds, at least, make winning highly improbable, so the real motivation for submitting a bracket would have to be for the fun of predicting more than for a shot at a prize.

I looked at my bracket one last time and my only remaining qualm lies in tifa versus gordon...
I know gordon was always trash in 1v1 but i somewhat expect more from him because of the gamespot contest and i assume he is stronger

So i have gordon and the thing is i know the winner of this matchup heads to their division final :P

I'm actually disappointed because now I'll be missing the start of Link/Thrall (and probably Magus/Alucard since I'm likely sleeping in tomorrow)

I'll most likely miss the start of Magus/alucard, but europe's likely to struggle to stay awake for the start of the night matches.

True. I've actually got Tifa advancing because it's 1v1, but Gordon would end up advancing out of the bracket if this was 4-way because the rest of that half-division is so weak that Gordon would easily survive long enough for Tifa to get SFF'ed out by Sephiroth.

Anyway, the bracket is definitely an interesting one. There are some seedings that are downright bizarre--Marth WON his opening fourpack in the 2008 contest, which was long before Shadow Dragon came out, yet he got saddled with a 16-seed this time around--but true to any tournament, the 8-9 matchups are mostly toss-ups. Alucard vs. Magus could go either way; Big Boss vs. Miles Edgeworth could hinge on whether or not Big Boss gets a Naked Snake pic; Cecil vs. Knuckles is...well, it's interesting, to say the least; Laharl vs. Neku is a coin flip because NEITHER has any decent past performance...okay, the other half aren't as good. Seriously, the Jenova Division is the most screwed-up division ever. Vincent Valentine, widely recognized as the most likely breaker of the Noble Nine, gets stuck with an 8-seed and a second-round battle with Sephiroth, and his first-round opponent, a "9"-seed, is the fodderrific Guybrush Threepwood. (9)-seed is more like it. Meanwhile, after an SFF-beatdown of Vincent (which is possibly intended to make sure Guybrush is 128th in the extrapolated stats, since getting blown out in the first round by someone who is then blown out in the second round is sure to do a number on your overall strength), his third-round opponent would be...another Noble Niner? Or maybe not; Crono's been getting weaker as he becomes less and less relevant, and if he manages to scrape through two rounds (the second is with Yoshi), letting another Noble Niner take him out is probably an act of mercy. On the other half of the division, you have an unknown quantity at 3-seed, two old-school characters in the 6-11, and a 10-seed that could easily make the division finals, with the 2-seed the only threat to stop her.

Furthermore, the Jenova Division is the last one, so once we get done with each round of that mess, it's back to the division of many toss-ups--the Hyrule Division. Although, most of those toss-ups are in the first round--Alucard-Magus (8-9), Red-Ocelot (5-12), Luigi-Meta Knight (3-14), Amaterasu-Shadow (6-11), and possibly Drake-The Boss (2-15--okay, not really a toss-up, but a 15-seed as a huge favorite just doesn't sit right with me). After that, it's all obvious--Mega Man X beats the Red-Ocelot winner, Weighted Companion Cube beats the Drake-The Boss winner, the Luigi-Meta Knight winner beats the Ammy-Shadow winner and WCC, and Link beats the Alucard-Magus winner, Mega Man X (why the hell is he a 13-seed?), and the Luigi-Meta Knight winner. (High comedy--if Meta Knight manages the first-round upset over Luigi, it's quite possible that Link will make it out of the Hyrule Division without facing anyone seeded higher than 8th--or 9th, if Magus wins. Call it the "anti-chalk" division.)

Terra or Darth Revan? So stuck on that one.

Just a few points...

- IMO a Big **** picture could be used and Big Boss would still defeat Edgeworth
- Luigi is stronger than Kirby therefore Meta Knight has no chance
- Despite picking The Boss I consider Nathan Drake to be the overall favourite.

I'd take Darth Revan, myself. Hk-47 likely would do better among the kotor fanbase, but outside of it, would people rather vote for a weird looking robot or a Darth with lightsabers?

I'll probably miss the start of a few matches this contest (or maybe more than a few, not going to be around at noon all the time). I only missed the start of one match last contest, OOT/RBY/MGS/FF8, because I was so distraught over the FFVII/CT/SM64/GE match that I just lost interest in the contest.

I'll guess HK-47 just because he's the only SW:KotOR-guy we've seen in a contest so far and he's made several contests, including the contest after SW:KotOR's release. I hate to rest on that for strength since we know Vincent and Tifa should beat Aeris easily enough, but the fanbase never got behind anybody else from SW:KotOR until this year's NRT and we're counting on Darth Revan having a sweet picture to beat Terra.

Not after getting 58-42'd by Squall he isn't. Incidentally, Yoshi beating Crono would imply that Squall beats down Vincent hard nowadays, which is a really good argument for that it has almost no chance of happening.
