isn't RE4 a peculiar case, I mean it was on gamecube and wii and the nintendo fanbase seem to have a strong attachment to it, so although RE at first glance feels more playstation centric, isn't what put RE4 ahead the fact that it is being back by both fanbases?
I mean sure it's critically acclaimed, but how many praised games bomb in polls?

Hmm, Square has a total of 31.49% right now, with 2 games in the poll. Nintendo has a total of 34.54%, with 5 games in the poll. In other words, Square currently has 47.69% on Nintendo. That'll fall as the ASV continues, but Square should end up with 46-47% here. Makes me wonder if FFX could beat Brawl in a match now.

Yeah, but we're dealing with hardcore fanbases at this point and there are clearly some indecipherable factors to this poll. You can bring that up, and I can just as reasonably bring up how SSBB killed MGS4 which hung tough with FFX while SSBM hardly impressed against FFX with KH (and D2) in the same poll. Melee/Brawl need to have a poll together at some point, preferably one-on-one...though I think a poll asking about our favorite SSB-game would be just about as accurate.

FFX alone got 36.49% against four Nintendo-games there...and this poll added CC to Team Square and SSBB to Team Nintendo. Either CC is very independent (FFX is only going to drop about a percent from the last poll despite three new games) or Nintendo's stock is dropping quickly here (SMG/NSMBW have been embarrassed in recent times and look at the Wii drop in SotY-polls)...or perhaps some of both.

But it's only Mario that has been flopping recently.
This year though HG/SS and the other big three ninty games we'll be able to get a better reading on nintendo and see how they are faring across the board.

Yeah, I realize you can't draw that much from a 10-way non-contest poll. But this result does make me feel good, and I never miss a chance to make fun of Brawl.

Ike/Zidane is a day match. Ike is an ASV beast. Zidane has a horrible day vote. Add in the fact that Ike is probably stronger anyway, and I don't like Zidane's chances.

Mario was able to beat Zack Fair despite Link and MMX, and I think MMX would have a bigger impact on Mario than Sonic...it depends on how much stronger you think Sora is than Zack Fair.

Sora's definitely stronger than Zack Fair. Put him in that match last year in Zack's place, and he definitely advances.

Sora ought to be stronger than Zack, and Mario only beat Zack by 1200 votes, so Sora probably breaks through. I think Sora's closer to Zack level than Squall/Vincent level though (and the Zack Fair is STRONG), so it's no guarantee.

MW2's got it under a hundred now...I probably won't be around when it takes the lead, but it's redeemed itself quite a bit. It still out to do better against GTA:SA than this, but considering where it was at earlier, this is better for it. Besides, I don't buy it's this much weaker than the original CoD4; that game laid the smackdown on GTA4, and MW2 has already sold more than CoD4 AND has a GotY-award here now. It really should be doing better in today's poll, but I'm not convinced it's weaker than CoD4 yet, much less THIS much weaker.

Right, but I also said I don't think Sonic would affect Mario as much as MMX there, so that gives Mario a bit more leeway in my scenario. Who knows if it's right, but MMX relies on nostalgia and old-school Nintendo-systems a lot more than Sonic does!

I don't really know what to think when Sora gets close to Squall 3 out of 4 times, and he does about as well on Mega Man as Auron does on Crono. He's up there with the rest of the near elites, in my opinion, and he's honestly the one near elite with room to grow because Kingdom Hearts is still a relatively young series. After KHIII, he might be able to take even the lower portion of the Noble Nine, depending on how good the game is.
